The 2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport has made its official debut ahead of the 2018 New York auto show.

Cadillac detailed the CT6 V-Sport's new V8 engine earlier today, but now the automaker has provided more details on luxury the sedan itself. The performance four-door is set apart by its V-shaped mesh grille, lower front splitter, gloss black exterior trim, 20-inch V-Sport wheels and subtle rear spoiler. Other add-ons include Brembo brakes, special calibrations for the steering and Magentic Ride Control suspension and an active exhaust system.

As you may already know, under the hood of the CT6 V-Sport will be Cadillac's new 4.2-liter twin-turbocharged V8, which makes 550 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. The sedan will also feature a 10-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and a specially tuned all-wheel-drive system with a rear-biased torque split. Just like other versions of the CT6, rear-wheel steering joins the AWD system for added agility.

"The CT6 V-Sport was developed for driving enthusiasts who want the best of both worlds: a high-performance sports sedan and a luxury car with all the comforts and technology that come with it," CT6 chief engineer Lyndon Lie said in a GM release. "With its lightweight architecture, an all-new Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8 coupled with the tightened suspension and revised AWD torque split, we've enhanced the CT6 to be well-balanced and capable of all conditions."

Cadillac says the CT6 V-Sport is the first in a series of new performance vehicles from the brand. All future Cadillac model variants will be offered in both luxury and sport-inspired trim lines, a plan its calling a "Y strategy." For example, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo CT6, the 3.6-liter CT6 and the 2.0-liter CT6 will each be offered in a sport trim level or a luxury trim level, as will versions of its other sedans and crossovers.

The 2019 Cadillac CT6 will arrive at Cadillac dealers later this year. A less powerful V8 CT6 is also slated to arrive in early 2019 with around 500 hp on tap.
