I currently own 4 IROC-Zs. Two are convertibles, but the other two are "crossover of cars"! Awesome! :D
A little off topic and showing my age.... Back in the day I owned a 1969 Camaro SS/RS Z-11 Pace Car replica convertible (350/300). I also bought new a 1997 Camaro Z-28 30th Anniversary convertible.

I did buy a new 1981 Chevrolet Citation 4-door hatchback, which was a very practical car but had miserable quality and reliability.

you should have gotten a citation for buying a citation..

I also had a Citation hatchback. I actually carried a small sofa in there once. There actually isn't that much more cu footage compared to a sedan. But with the way modern sedans have the slanted rear window, the trunk opening is like a mail slot. From the outside, it is virtually indistinguishable from a sedan.

I used to have an '80 Citation Club Coupe. Total stripper. Bench seat, poverty caps, 4 speed, no options other than V6 and FM radio. The ballsiest drive train in the lightest body, that sucker flew, especially after I recurved the distributer and had a new exhaust bent up for it. Very unreliable though.

I drove a black Malibu hatch around 2008, IIRC it had the new 3.5. It was a pretty nice car, a little soft in the knees but seemed to have good utility. I was coming out of an Impala so the GM familiarity was comfortable.
I bought a Spectra instead, quite a fine little piece of equipment and it opened the H/K doors.

But a hatch can swallow lots more stuff than a car trunk with folding seats. Fershur. And the 'bu hatch was reasonably styled, considering some hatches we see.

What is odd is that GM can take a model built by their (ex) lower mainstream brand in Europe and sell it in America in the lower premium sector.
.
According to the review the Regal's interior is not any better in quality than the Malibu. So its not that GM can sell a mainstream Opel as a premium Buick, its that they will try to, and probably fail- or at least will have to come up with big incetives to do so.

This belongs to my daughter's FIL. Love this car!

How low of a trim did you go? I my wife has the luxury trim and it has it. Why do you guy always expect everything to be included in the base trim ?
I totally agree with you, I feel like people want the base model to have all the goodies from the premium models. What's the point of getting the premium model if all the good stuff is in the base model.

However, I think GM has a problem with the safety equipment. Seems like Toyota and Honda include the safey equipment in base models. Assuming their base models are similarly priced, that safety equipment is a pretty compelling reason to buy the Toyota and Honda over GM.

Forward automatic braking and collision alert are not available at all on 2018 Regal Sportback Base 1SV, Preferred, and Preferred II trim levels. Only the top two trims, Essence and GS, even get those features as an option.

That's very disappointing on a newly introduced 2018 model, especially since every 2018 Accord and 2018 Camry including the base models (both of which start under $25k in the U.S. market) include those features as standard equipment.
