2015 GMC Sierra Review

The 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 perfectly accommodates today's movers and shakers, with capable moves … and virtually no shaking," says Cars.com reviewer David Boldt. The GMC Sierra 1500, with its impressive all-new 6.2-liter V-8 and eight-speed transmission, finished a close second (just behind the Chevrolet Silverado 1500) in our Cars.com/PickupTrucks.com 2015 Light-Duty V-8 Challenge. Although we've driven several versions of the Sierra half-ton, there was a lot to like about the truck we had for our head-to-head competition: "Aggressively optioned and sporting a window sticker of just under $55,000, our test Sierra would be perfect for a long weekend or longer vacation.

Man, GMC really nailed it when they designed this truck. It's the best looking truck on the market right now, in my opinion. Clean lines and simple, compared to a lot of the others. It looks like a truck should look.

Now with the GM (fraternal) twins being on the market for a time and seeing them on the road... I find them more and more attractive. I would purchase a GMC if I were on the market due to the (IMHO) better looks. There's just something to be said with the GMC styling and it keeps me interested. The Silverado has its merits too but... GMC for the win in my books.

The trucks department is alive and well but getting more cut throat too. I hope GM ups their game in performance department (I'm thinking a SS variant worthy of the moniker & an option above the Z71 that will run with the other off-road packages offered by "RAM" and Ferd). Let's move past the mere appearance and on to some good stuff!

19.6mpg in real world driving with 420hp and 460tq is freaking outstanding!!! For the first time in a long time I prefer the styling of the Silverado compared to the Sierra but the Sierra is a damn fine looking truck too. Way to go GM!

I have a couple hundred miles on my '15 3500, CC, with the 6.0L. If I had the 6.2L performance and mpg I would be even happier, but still it is really a nice pickup. The interior is about 100% better than the '12 I traded in. It looks great, very comfortable and it pulls well, covers all the bases I expect out of a HD pickup.
I have a '14 with the 5.3 and am very satisfied! I get compliments on the styling regularly! I've had it for a year and a half and still not a rattle!

Great review. That 6.2L is a beast. Add in an intake, exhaust and a tune and that is one scary truck.

Like the new Sierra more each time I see one, only thing keeping my from a test drive is that I know I will buy one if I do, and I have other priorities for cash right now. Maybe after the home improvements I can consider one.
If you wanted a perfectly good 2006 pickup, this would fit the bill.

It is no longer a compelling product and is part of the continued fraud of Total Recall Motors for calling new that which is a decade old.

Ford and Ram are the only pickup truck makers who have modern hardware. The rest are pretenders and are only competitive with Honduh's Ridgeline and that hideous fake full-sized truck from Toyoduh. Nissan? Better to buy something used from Ford or Ram.
Am I the only one that prefers the SLT grille over the Denali grille? Would it be possible to buy a Denali with the SLT grille?

hmmm.. something to consider

I'd suggest optioning up an SLT and leaving it at that. You'll likely save a few grand not having Denali shotgunned all over the interior/exterior.
This is a have your cake and eat out too truck. Love all the chrome, the interior, the near 20 MPG and the power of the 6.2. Why anybody would choose a Tundra over this is baffling.

Yes it is. The dealers can sell and install the grill to you as an accessory

That's true but I'd be losing the Denali exclusive interior leather package and other Denali exclusive upgrades

Something to consider there.. I like the less ostentatious presentation of the SLT

Go ahead and get one, I'll trade with ya!
The GMC Sierra is a class act. Best and most capable truck on the market right now.

I do like the SLT grill the most as well, I think. What exactly are the differences? Saw the two at the Chicago show and noticed the Denali has a lcd cluster and leather on the gear selector...what else?

I agree without question the best looking pickup you can buy right now and that includes the new 15 fords imo. I have the 6.2 all terrain version and yeah I'm glad I spent the little extra as it is beastly even in stock form.
Still looks like a million bucks everytime I see it.
Yep. Best looking truck. Better than all those new fords and rams and tundras. Sorry guys, but the Sierra wins again.
