Looks like the E-Series Cutaway will reach soon the Ecolonine in the auto graveyard more sooner then we thought. I spotted that PDF document showing the Transit Cutaway in school bus specifications.

I would assume they'll probably keep the E-450 around, since the Transit doesn't have anything in it's lineup with a similar GVWR.

transit GVW 10,300 MAX
E350 STARTS at 10,500
and I thought the cut away and truck styles where announced for LAUNCH availability and the E series was ABOVE in GVW as seen here
LOL at Ford 6.8L V10 putting out 305 hp/420 tq. Why even bother?
Funny how a unibody van suddenly has frame rails

Not suddenly at all, Transit is integral Frame, not your regular unitbody.
Transit seems like a no-brainer for smaller school bus applications. It was only a matter of time. You would think the I-5 diesel would be a lot more efficient than the engines they currently run in those things.

VW transporters and MB sprinters all USDM vans turned trucks
not to mention GM "G" vans that became "cube" trucks

t's interesting that Ford is still holding back fuel economy details on the I-5,
I wonder if it's good but not outstanding compared to the competition.

that 4WD system
E450 will stay for a while but it will eventually give way to something else whether that be a Super Duty F-Series based chassis or a heavier version of the Transit, and I suspect the former will be the case.
that 4WD system
that my friend is the DANA VX4 AWD system used on FORD and Dodge CARS in the 70's and early 80s
I had to spend a few minutes googling that setup..."well that's one way to do it"
I dust-off this topic by mentionning this article from Jalopnik published in May 2015

And some specifications of a version done by Girardin company for Blue Bird. http://www.girardin.com/MICROBIRD/TS_School_TEXT.html
