Hey guys, I've decided to replace my 97 GMT-400 with a new truck. I'm down to picking between the following:

2011 GMC Sierra crew 5.3 Z71 4x4, potentially All-Terrain pkg
2011 Ford F150 supercrew 5.0 FX4 4x4

Anyone have thoughts on which would be a better fit, considering they are similar in price?

Well, both of those are good trucks but personally I like the GMC better. I really think it boils down to your personal preference for your needs. Oh heck, just get the GMC Sierra.

I like the F150 a lot more. I'm not a truck person, but I also think it's the better truck right now.

I am not expert but from what I have read you cannot go wrong with any of these trucks, including the RAM. I'd chose the F150 because of the excellent assortment of powertrains, cool upscale features/trims and I am crazy for models like the Raptor and King Ranch. :dro:

In the end it comes down to personal preference and IMO I think you should use that as your guide. Go see both trucks in the flesh and drive them both, see which one jives with you best. :yup:

A friend of mine just bought a crew cab Sierra with the 4.8L V8. He's very pleased with it. I agree, its a very nice truck.

You couldn't go wrong with either choice...

I'd go with the GMC with the proven 5.3 w/Z71 pkg.... Plus, in my opinion, it's a better looking truck... And there's a lot less of them on the road than Ford F-Series trucks or Chevrolet Silverados, which are everywhere. I hate driving what everyone else has... But that's just me!:D

If it's really a toss up for you, see which dealer will give you the better price and go with it!:)

There seams to be alot of Bias, and some Unbias opinions here. But hey why else would someone come on a GM website, but to get a push one way on what to buy.

When I purchased my boat, I flipped a coin to see what to buy. When it came up the wrong way, I thought "The best 2 out of 3"

I stopped kidding myself, and purchased "The might be infierior product" And have had some problems with, (Like the floor rotting out year 4, warrantied to year 3 and really soft paint when rubbing up against the dock, and rib welds cracking which was covered under warranty) but still like the boat.

Would I buy another X Boat? Probally would. If nothing else but to justify my first purchase.

Would I repurchase X Outboard? In a heart beat! Have I thought about another manufacturer? Yes.

It is a whole package for me. Motor and vehicle.

Truthfully, I am greatful to be selling Fords today. There has been times that I was greatful to be selling GMs.

Trying to be as honest as I can be.

OnStar or Sync........

If you are going to buy the "dated" GM product, why not consider a 2010 F-150, still many on the lots, with very nice rebates.

I get employee on a GM or Ford (as well as Chrysler) but if I price out a Chevy and a Ford, the F-150 is about $2,000 cheaper.

If you are getting leather interior, I'd suggest the GMC. If your going cloth, GM has issued about 6 TSB's relating to the lint attracting cloth seats, and the new and improved 2010 cloth material is actually worse than the old unimproved cloth. Unless you love spending time with a lint brush, tape and other assorted lint removing devices, buy something else. I really don't expect the seat material to get any better in the future, it sure hasn't in 4 years anyway. Kinda worries me that if something as simple as cloth can't be fixed in 4 years, what else won't be either.

Ford has a strong product now. It's hard to argue with that purchase.

I'm trying to think of where GM has an advantage other than powertrain warranty....

If you are getting leather interior, I'd suggest the GMC.
Someone is actually recommending leather seats in a GM product?
