I can't wait to see what kind of mileage both GM and Ford can get out of these trucks with the diesels.
These trucks will get improved mileage but does anyone think that will matter as long as diesel costs offset the mileage increase over gasoline? I am happy to see a small diesel though and maybe things will change. The only way I see any change is when gas hits $5 a gallon. Maybe then we can start drilling for oil again in this country.
the only way the tide will change is when the US public finally pull their heads out of their collective behinds and begins to buy and pay fair price for small efficient cars - .... but that will never happen - people here are too hung up on driving their giant SUV's or trucks.

I'm still waiting for someone to officially announce a small diesel (I4 or V6) in a mid-size truck.
Just in time for very high priced diesel fuel. And how much of a premium will this cost over a gasoline engine?

10 years to market too late, but better late than never perhaps.

Looks like it might apply to Dodge as well, I spotted this article on Diesel Power magazine blog titled "The Coming of the Small-Block 1/2-ton Diesel" since the upcoming V6 and V8 from Cummins are smaller then the "big-block" I6 6.7L who'll be ready for 2010 as well

I couldn't resist to ask but why we write "2010.5" instead of "2010½"?
I'm interested to seeing how the new GM's 4.5 liter and the Ford engine match up against each other.

power wise, the gm is supposed to be 320/510. it seems itll have about 20 fewer hp but almost 100 more ft.lbs. if things dont change i know what one i want.

the price of deisel fuel needs to come down, but the thing with a diesel engine is that it can run on a multitude of fuels.
Uhh...so when do we get a small Duramax??

Suppose to be around that same time.
