We've got a bit of a wait ahead of us in the United States, but if this interior photo does indeed show the Chevy Cruze's passenger compartment, then maybe it'll be worth it. TheCaranatic.com doesn't tell the source of the image, the Daewoo logo on the wheel indicates that it was probably snapped in South Korea, where the car will be produced for the European and Asian markets. As for the interior itself? Well, based on the photo it looks top-notch, blending a lot of Opel Insignia with dashes of Chevy Malibu to create a very pleasant driver's environment. This is promising.

Will somebody PLEASE explain to me why we have to wait two years for this car? This is something that could go up against and beat the Civic NOW. Two years from now, Honda will be releasing, if they haven't already a new Civic. And I'm sure now that the exterior and interior pics of this have hit the net, it gives them time to either breath a sigh of relief, or back to the drawing boards. If it was out now, GM wouldn't be able to keep up with demand. GM, somehow, has got to get infront of the competition instead of reacting to them!

So how do you expect to release a car now that still requires engineering? Why would Europe, which is deeply in need of an entry level GM car not get this before North America, when we have a decent selling vehicle in the meantime. By the time Honda sees these pictures it will take them 4-5 years to develop something to compete against it, plus a huge waste of money for them to release something new now or in 2 years from now.

If you look out the driver's side window, there's a white Cruze mule sitting right next to this.
...

That's an old (by Korean standards - meaning they already have the T225) Gentra/Kalos/Aveo hatchback.

Can't you tell?

---

Hopefully it'll going to come in more funkier colors and styles - like the jeans-like trim they had on the test vehicles, that'd be setting it apart from the Malibu and appealing non-oldies.

Wow.

This thing will cost more than the Cobalt....at least I'd be willing to pay more.

It's a bit larger, too....almost a mid sized. I think the dash scheme looks better than the Malibu.'

I would really have to take a look at a loaded manual sedan when it comes out. Hopefull it handles as good as it looks.

Very upscale interior for a compact car. With the mileage numbers GM has been quoting and this type of interior it should do exceptionally well.

I continue to believe there's a deep longing in North America for good quality North American cars. I believe evidence of that is shown with the CTS and Malibu sales, as well as the sales of the Sky and Solstice.

I just wish it wasn't taking GM so long to bring us those vehicles.

Wow, this is very very promising. If they bring that here as is (and DO NOT dumb it down at all like they did the Vue's interior, etc), then it will make the Civic look like it's standing still. This is incredibly attractive and should sell well.

Now, everyone pray GM North America doens't do anything supid and make huge changes in bringing it Stateside, okay?

Dear God/Allah/Buddah

Please bring the Cruze to the US, please make it a 4 cylinder with a manual, please keep the look as close to the preview images Chevrolet released, please make a nicely loaded model <$19K, and if you see fit, a coupe would be nice, oh and DON'T touch that interior, especially the nice thick steering wheel!!!
