Glad to see the Outlook will get the 3.6L DI engine. The Outlook needs serious help in the fuel economy dept., this will definitely be a plus!

I was really happy to find out that there would be a 4-cyl/6-speed XR model until I saw that it lacked the V6 XR's 18" wheels, automatic climate control and fog lamps. WHY? Why can't GM offer premium features in cars with the "smaller" engine like so many of its competitors?

I do think the Outlook changes are great however :)

And they discontinued the bluestone color on the Sky making mine that much more of a rarity :)

I dont think its a half bad color either. But I do hate that they got rid of the sunburst orange, but I know i am in the minority there.
Sunburst Orange does not sell. I like it and so do most people, they just stick with traditional colors.

That Aqua Marine looks like the color we saw when the VUE Debuted. I'm pretty sure it was not Sea Mist Green that debuted the VUE.

Any chance they're not releasing info on the Astra because of holding back info they don't want the public to know about yet?
I don't know, but I wish they would. I have to decide between an '08 and an '09. But check out this quote from AutoblogGreen:

Next year, the U.S. Astra will get a smaller 1.4L turbo engine with similar power to the current unit but improved economy and, hopefully, the four speed automatic will also go away in favor of a six speed.
I'm not sure if they are speculating on the turbo or if they have actual information. Here's the link:

I'm going to trust my source that the Astra RL will be released.

Not sure how much I buy into those guys on there...especially if they think GM will be putting a 6 speed auto in with a 1.4L turbo. I highly doubt that would be done.
I'd say it's a toss up......with all of Putz-o's moaning about CAFE, I'd say the possibility shouldn't immediately be discounted....

Yeah but it doesn't go into effect until 2020 and it just means the total avg of all the cars made has to be 35mpg. They could make 20 XEs and XRs and for every 5 RLs and still be fine. Hell...the ratio of ION RLs wasn't even that high. There were so few RLs produced...

Under the US government's "Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007", the standard rises each year from 2011 until it hits 35 mpg in 2020.

So the automakers can't just ignore CAFE until 2018 and then start working towards 35 mpg for 2020. If they don't make major changes, they're going to get hit with big fines by 2011 that will just get worse each year.

On the other hand, I read that the CAFE rules in the law use older EPA mileage standards, not the new ones. So even though the 2008 Malibu is rated for mileage 22/30 under the 2008 EPA fuel economy standards, it's counted under the previous EPA fuel measurement system as 25/33 against GM's CAFE requirements.

There will be a 1.4l Turbo with a 6 speed automatic transmission for the new
Meriva!! So why not for the Astra?
But i doubt that it would be for 09!!! Maybe for Delta2!!!

Well there are tons of ECOTECs over in Europe that get a 6 speed manual. Why didn't it ever come here in the Cobalt SS, ION RL, SKY RL, Solstice GXP, Astra, etc? Just kind of the way it goes with GM...it's always a toss up.

Well that's good to know because I was wondering with the 2008 MY new SAE ratings, it's not really helping everything work out.

I have tried searching, but is there anything on how exactly the alternative fuel vehicles will be played into this? Like the DMAX V8TT engine for the 2500 and 3500s?
