I went to a Traverse "Ride n' Drive" yesterday. I put an 08' Highlander Sport, a 2009 Honda Pilot, and a 2009 Traverse through a closed course. We ripped the cars apart, drove them hard, sat in the 2nd row, sat in the 3rd row, tested functions, listened to the radio, flipped, folded, slid every seat and opend and closed every compartment. The Pilot was the worst of the three except for 3rd row comfort where as it had more room than Highlander, but didn't compare to the comfort of Traverse. (Also it's pretty much impossible to fit three across Highlander's 2nd row bench, the middle position is about 7" wide.) Everyone knows the Pilot is an Odessey platform and Highlander is Camry. Traverse was built from the ground up to be a crossover...No Compromise! The fact that Pilot won (even over Veracruz) would lead me to believe that Car and Driver did not even test said vehicles, or so much as have the vehicles in front of them to look at, or have read any (unbias) literature or statistics anywhere.
