The question is...is there a market for this car? Did it deserve the development time, personnel, resources and money allocated to it? Or could that money have been used elsewhere to better effect. (maybe even regular Buick Lacrosse marketing)
Marketing would be nice. When was the last time anyone saw an ad for the LaCrosse? I understand the full court press for Enclave.

Only time you see the other two Buicks mentioned is during the "We crazy and burnin' down the house with 0% financing schlock ads."

A fully loaded 2008 Chevrolet Impala SS lists for $32,040 and a fully loaded 2008 Buick LaCrosse Super lists for $34,090. The Buick has a 4 year, 50K bumper to bumper warranty compared to the Chevrolet 3 year, 36K bumper to bumper warranty. Considering the value of this extra warranty the list prices seem close. I rented a low trim level, moderately equipped LaCrosse a year and a half ago and drove it a week. I was impressed by how solid and quiet it was. The fit and finish seemed very good. The interior was understated, tastefull, and in my opinion classy. I would imagine transaction prices are much lower than list prices, especially during year-end close outs or the slow winter months. If I was in the market for a front wheel drive, mid-size car I would definitely consider the Buick LaCrosse Super.

Am I the only person who likes the original Lacrosse better, despite the fact that it looked like a copy of a Lexus GS? The new grille really doesn't do much for me. Either way the car looks very dated. The interior's nice though.

But I'd have to be different and take this thing instead.

Amen. My wife could not understand why I did not want us to get an LG washer and dryer. I told that there is no way we will purchase anything that has a competitive American company counterpart. We looked at Maytag and Whirlpool. We went with Whirlpool. Our new fridge is a Kenmore.

Electronics are almost impossible to find these days. Sad.

I want to live in a country that can make more than just major weapons systems and pathetic celebrities.
A real GM fan would've bought Frigidaire appliances. :D

I consider myself more a domestic auto industry supporter. I will always look across the domestic spectrum for vehicles and appliances.

GMI has the most interesting cast of characters I have found on auto sites. That is why I spend the most time here. Also, it pretty much has the entire auto industry covered very well.

After that I will look at what is the best values taking the lifetime of the purchase into account.

The car must have been red jewel tintcoat colored with a sunroof, 6-disc CD changer, and chrome wheels. Those are its only options, and will increase the MSRP from $31,995 to $34,090. BTW, prices don't include the shipping charge.

These days, Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux, which is a Swedish company.

We used to have a GM branded refrigerator, purchased in the early 1970's. It lasted over 25 years!

I do like the freshened LaCrosse very much. However, for the low $30's, I would probably go for a '08 Saab, and get the I4 turbo with manual. There is something about efficient design and engineering that appeals to me. For the mid $20's, one of '08 LaCrosse v6 trims would be high on my list, as would a Sable/Taurus.

I've noticed how, for GM brands, if you want a manual, you either have to go with an economy car, or a premium car. Ford has a number of mid-range priced manuals.

You are right. I got on the Buick web site and included these options to arrive at the $34,090 list.

I guess I am an old geezer,I just bought the Lacrosse Super. It made my 2004 Grand PRIX GTP feel slow.It is wolf in sheep's clothing.Loaded with everything was a hair over 30,000.I looked at the 2008 CTS with minimal accessories it ran way over 40,000.They even wanted $250 extra for a doughnut spare instead of an inflater kit!I felt old as the turn signal in the Super sounded like the turn signal in my old 57 Chevy. It really is for us old motorheads who want a fast, quiet and boatlike ride.

I am driving a moderately equipped 2007 Impala with a V6 engine this week and I am impressed with the solid feel of this car, the exterior/interior styling, and quality of the fit and finish and interior materials. I am sure your Lacrosse Super is much nicer since it the top W Body. Last week I drove a 2007 Camry LE and overall I like the Impala better. I think the Impala's exterior/interior design is better. The Camry had a lot of problems. There was a lot of front end noise. Maybe it was the CVJ, front wheel bearings, or the brakes. Also, the automatic headlights did not turn on and off automatically and I could not turn off the air conditioner compressor or air recirculation.

I disagree, American greed is the reason why American manufacturing industries are suffering. UAW workers cost more but deliver inferior quality, and all this whining about other countries offering free health care, alot of these soo called flag waving americans dont want universal health care...Sorry had to get that off my chest but back to the topic at hand.

The problem I see with paying 32K for the Buick LaCrosse Super is that once you buy it at that cost, you're going to be married to it until its paid off because I guarantee you that after that first year that car is only going to be worth 20K the most. W-Body cars have some of the worst resale values on the market.
The Impala SS and GP GXP seem to be holding there value pretty well. I can't seem to every find one for less than 20K. And these are 2005 GXP's with 30K and 2006 rental buyback SS Impalas without moonroof or chrome wheels. The Lacrosse also seems to be selling for top dollar. 2005 CXS versions are still going for 16-18K with lower miles. It's the base stripper Impalas and Grand Prix rental cars that lose the most value because the market is saturated with them.

Also, I am only 28. There's no way I would buy a Cadillac--not even a CTS.

Because it's cheezy.
Don't forget the bonus of $14,000 in damages if you have 5 MPH collision in that overpriced Altima. :lmao:

Infiniti build quality and dealer service are on the decline. Nissan is giving Infiniti dealers less freedom to take care of warranty issues.

Cadillac owner satisfaction is on the upswing for the exact opposite reason. GM is granting dealers more freedom to honor claims just outside of warranty and making an honest effort and researching and resolving manufacturing and design defects.

And take it from me, someone who has owned and loved two Q45s.

No CTSs will trade at that price. I went to a dealer today, and was shown a totally loaded one (big engine, AWD, nav . . .) that stickered at . . . drum roll . . . $48,000!

And they're selling 'em for sticker.

Woo hoo!
