Read this on camaro5 of all places :D

SRT8's all sold out
It's no big surprise, but Dodge is officially sold out of its entire run of 2008 model year Challenger SRT8s — 6,400 units in all. Dodge reportedly received 10,000 pre-orders for the Challenger, 4,300 of which came in the first three days the Challenger was available for pre-order.

Looks like there's plenty of demand for the SRT8 version. Interested in how well the lower end models will sell, especially after the first year.

Nice but one car won't keep the company afloat forever Chrysler needs to do a big time overhaul of the rest of its lineup if it hopes to stay competitive. the challenger is a good start but Chrysler needs vehicles that appeal to a broader market if it hopes to survive in the long run

I think most of these early SRT-8s are pre-ordered by collectors, hobbyists, and tuners. Many of them are going to be garaged or turned into project cars.

I would expect the Camaro to have about the same pre-order number for the same reason.

It's pretty much the only new car Chrysler has done right.
That's debatable. I'm glad they stayed true to the concept, but I'm still not a fan of the interior. I'm betting that's where the customizers are really going to improve it. The exterior. . . well, it looks like a less-elegant rehash of the original. I'd like to see one sectioned and chopped, but it'll never happen.

I think there will definitely be more. Just check the online communities for the new Camaro compared to the new Challenger. Night and day difference in terms of the amount of interest, even with the camaro seemingly taking so long to come out.
Yes, because we've seen how much interest on the internet has predicted successes like Snakes On A Plane, the candidacy of Ron Paul, and Linux among other things.

Hmm..hopefully there will be just as much demand for the Camaro.
im hopeing the same. Its a shame that Dodge introduced this as a concept after chevy did the camaro, yet they're beating them to production by a long shot. this long wait better be well worth it, or the only people buying them will be the die-hards looking to add to there collection.
