No one naturally pronounces anything as language is a purelly intellectual product.

In auto jargon though and some others, the abreviation MK followed by a roman numeral has been used (not only by Lincoln to signify a generation of a particular line). The first and second Continental were so commonly known as MkI and MkII that Iaccocca cleverly used Continental Mark III (using the full word) in the early 70, jumping like 3 generations od Continentals, to name Lincoln's newest coupe. Then that name went on until the sometime during the 7th generation when the Continantal name was dropped to be used exclusively by Lincolns midsize sedan.

Lincoln is just taking advantage of the enormous recognition and ties with its history that this words has. Do I think that they are doing it in a clever way? Sadly not. Although I don't think it will cause any damage I hate to see the Mark denomination so overused and I wonder what will they do if they ever decide to revive the coupé line as it is rumored.

Other cars are know by their generation designated by the abreviation MK pronounced Mark, most commonly known the VW Golf or Rabbit.
All of this would make sense IF the Mark LT was the MKLT!

"Lincoln. Consistency is not our strong point."

Why didn't they wait until the next generation to get rid of the Zephyr name? Now it's just needlessly confusing and pointless. Plus, it says that the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing at Ford

As for the car itself, nice, but the alternatives are nicer.

In a world domianted by Mercedes Benz CLSs, CLKs, CLs, MLs and SKs, MK sounds like Emm-Kay. I understand the lineage but in a "Luxury Sense" the first though that came into my head was Emmm-Kay, the second was, "Hey that reminds me of the Lincoln Mark Name".

17,383.ou have a point there. Lincoln better put out a super campaign calling the cars Mark this, Mark that . . . .

I priced out a Lincoln Zephyr for my mom incase we can't sell the Sebring so she might have to trade it in and sell the Saab :(. However the Zephyr, now MKZ is a great value, in fact it costs less than a similar CTS and 9-5 and about the same as the 9-3. I also like how it offers the ventilated/heated seats like our 9-5 which may be reason enough for my mom to buy the Lincoln. However she would rather just keep the car she's got. We're also thinking about the Torrent which I also drove (see my review). Anyway the MKZ although the name change seems unrequired, corrects the issues with the Zephyr. Power is the main one, but the 3.0L V6, at least in the Mazda 6, offers decent power, you just gotta rev it to get it.

Sorry, but what's with the 17,383.ou ?
I was wondering the same thing myself. Either some elf got into my computer or I am an even worse typist that I thought . . . should read " You". Sorry about that. I still think you have an important point there and that Lincoln better advertise the pronunciation of those names to death.

Yeah, I agree with you guys, the better make sure the public 1. Knows about the name changes and 2. Knows how to pronounce them. P.S, Sobe, my local Lincoln store had a remodel, and WOW! it's very nice..very modern. It's all black, with the entrance area in a nice tan. They'll be getting new products, like the Navigator, MKZ and MKX to go along with it. :)
