Looks very similar to the current SD. Guess that's not a bad idea.

As Paul Hogan would say, "... that's a truck".

I hope that's either chrome or polished aluminum around the headlights.

I've driven some Ford trucks and like the overall "feel" to 'em. I like their stoutness.

I'm hoping to pick up a used F-250 4x4, either Superduty or Standard, to help me get through these tough Iowa winters.

TaHoE,

Guys that buy these don't buy 'em for the interior. And frankly, guys that buy these don't want a "froo-froo" interior. It's adequate. Women do drive these also, and again, they don't necessarily care about the interior. Some do however.

My brother is the general foreman for an excavating company and had an F350 company truck for a while. He and the other foremen agree that driving the Super Duties feels like 'driving on top of a pipe' - they want to wander all over the road. He just got a 2004 Silverado company truck this year and says that this one goes down the road straight. And the 6.0L easily outpulls the V10 in the F350 - and doesn't sound goofy like V10's do.

I wonder if this will be a chassis redesign also, because as I understand it, the Super Duties are basically using the same chassis from the 1980 redesign. They didn't get an all-new platform like the F150's have had twice.

If you buy one of these trucks and don't get the 6.0 turbo diesel, you're making a big mistake. The V10 is a gas hog and pretty under-performing. I doubt it's getting a new platform, because we'd have heard by now if it was. That's unfortunate, but it's still a very capable truck. I'm not sure why they didn't just build an even beefier F-150 chassis for this, though. The current F-150 is almost the size of the old F-250.

His boss won't spring for diesels for some reason...

I would agree. If you have to buy a Ford, at least get one with something other than a Ford engine... :D

Not a bad update at all! I do like the new excessive use of chrome on the grill - it screams "Get out the way!"

There's something wrong here. I don't think this is it. For one the steering wheel isn't the same as the new f-150's, you would expect that to at least be common. And the IP is laid out all different too in the new f150. SD should have at minumum the same structure/switch locations.

Actually, I am thinking of springing for the diesel. I don't need the diesel, but its better on fuel. Hmm, and they're cool.

I think Chevy needs to add some robustness to their trucks. They just don't "look" as stout as their Ford counterpart. There I go with the "look" and "feel" thing again.

I do like the Ford P/U's. Although I really like my '72 Chevy C-10.

The exterior of the truck looks just like anyone would have expected it to...a mix of the new F150 and the current Super Duty. As mentioned, that interior does seem funny. It looks exactly like the current F150...even down to the current, 2-spoke steering wheel. This truck might just have a mock-up of an interior, so Ford might have put the current interior in the new truck. If anything all it does is draw more attention to the new exterior. If Ford is smart, there should be better powertrain choices and a new interior along the lines of the new F150.

This is just a refresh. AFAIK a whole-new truck based on the new F-150 platform is supposed to be coming in a few years. Hopefully they'll ditch the v10 by then for a big-*** v8.

If Ford puts a fancy car interior in the superduty like the new F-150 I think they'll lose a lot of customers. My dad's '03 F-350 is solid plastic on the dash just like a work truck should be. Theres no way any softer fancy material would hold up to tools and work stuff bouncing around.
