Call me seriously out of touch, but I somehow missed the existence of this car. You can actually get a 3000 dollar rebate on this???? How long has this thing been around?

So you get the Ecotec (Hyundai and KIA low buck cars all have a measly 100 horsepower), a Manual trans, the basics, all at around 7000 bucks NEW?

WTF?

OK, so maybe this car has been around in the past, but with a much weaker, BASE engine. But this --- I'd bet the engine is nearly half the cost of the car....

This seems like it would be the ultimate new Cavalier from which to make a project car. Assuming you are ok with the J-body FWD thing. Mods are plentiful.

I have been thinking the same thing. Great if you have to commute and want a little Corn-fed compact to smack around some ricers. SRT-4? Well, for the differance in price you could make this Cavi' smoke it! Def. something to consider.

I've since heard that rebates don't apply to this model ....?

Anyway, it seems like a Fleet price for retail. Very cool. A "no ****er sticker". IMO this is what a base Cavalier should sell for, considering the platform (J-body) was probably paid off in 1989.
