I have a venture van and today the security light came on. then later it woudn't start at all. I phoned the dealer and they said the van assumes it's being stolen...is this something I have to bring in, or can I reprogram the key myself?

thanks!

Have you recently replaced keys?If you have the original keys they do not just need to be reprogramed. It sounds like you have some issue with the PassKey system. The correct keys should have a PK3 symbol on them.

Thanks 73Chevelle. I only have an original key and let it sit for 10 minutes with the key in the on position. And this got it started...once. Then the same old problem. Sounds like these GM passkeys are a real pain. NOT looking forward to taking it to the dealer...

:) Hi I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT that is doing the same thing. If you put key to on position wait 10 min it resets and car will start. Dont know why this is doing this all of a sudden but security light will come on stay on then when it finally goes out after about 3 starts it wont startup with out resetting it.
Good Luck Jude
