2000 Chevy Tracker ignition problem

We have a Tracker and the key is stuck in the ignition. YOu can turn it on and off, but all efforts to remove it fails. Any suggestion? Is there any GM tech bulletions on this. The person driving this car is a college student stressing out over finals right now
