Hybrid Mini Cooper Heading to LA Autoshow

Is this a 2-Mode Mini? Does this mean the FWD version of the 2-Mode is ready to go into truly tiny cars? Or is this something else entirely from BMW?

The linked to article at Jalopnik claims it's electric, but I doubt BMW would slap "Hybrid" stickers all over it if it was electric. Besides, a solely electric car's range would be too short to be practical. It has to be something a bit more interesting.

As in they managed to miniturize GM's two mode before GM could do it? Not good.

It' a mild hybrid system, it's not the two mode Hybrid system. The second generation two mode hybrid system will be out between 2011-2012 model year.

It could be a mild hybrid i.e. stop/start like in the Aura and Malibu.

To my knowledge BMW has not done any independent two-mode work, so anything they have, GM has also.

The interesting thing if you read the article is that the car apparently has no exhaust pipes to be seen. An all electric car???

Just because you see the tips doesn't mean it doesn't have a pipe hidden behind the bumper.

Problem is, why list it as "Hybrid" unless BMW is out of other stickers .

Also, how useful would an electric-only Mini be? What kind of range would it have. Seems like a waste of money if you ask me. More likely to be a mild hybrid as some have said or BMW actually has the 2-Mode miniaturized.
