UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- Two men were indicted Tuesday in the deaths of eight people killed when a car plowed into them as they gathered to watch an illegal street race in suburban Maryland. Darren Bullock, 20, and Tavon Taylor, 18, were each charged with eight counts of vehicular manslaughter, as well as reckless driving and street racing, in the Feb. 16 crash.

Dawg duh Bounty Hunter's idiot son is still in jail on similar charges, yes?

Communities should work with kids regarding setting up some safe racing venues. You will never kill off night drag racing, though. When you're full of hormones, young energy, excitability, rebelliousness, and thrill seeking, you gotta do something. Badminton just doesn't do it.

I knew some excellent drivers when I was under 21. I considered myself one.
We knew how to skid control, we knew how to four-wheel drift, how to hang out the rear end, knew the cornering and braking limits of our rides.
We did have a tendency to get in a little deep, that's a characteristic of inexperienced drivers.

Too bad the US-Americans' "driver training" is nothing but an expensive and ill-conceived joke. :bounce:

Thats sad to hear that 8 people lost their lives because of street racing.....but the people watching the illegal street race are just as responsible as the drivers. Thats why they give tickets to people who race, and to people who watch the race.

Teens get a bad reputation because 90% of them are horrible drivers and the other 10% are marginally good.
I don't know if I'd go that far. I personally think the percentage of bad women driver's is more than that of teens, but those are even trumped by the elderly.

That's Hulk Hogan's son, could see where you got the two confused though......;)

Driver's Ed here, at least IMO, provides only the essentials that allow teens & whoever to survive on the road.......sure they might be good drivers for that first 6 months or that first year, but after they get the hang of it, I'm sure things start to slide.

For me, the 'ill-conceived joke' part comes in, because I was trained on an Automatic instead of a stick!! :(

I'd say it's everyone's fault that was present

It was ok for the last 2 generations to race, did it all the time, but try it now and we're gonna haul your ass off to jail.

I'm not condoning it, but it seems pretty hypocritical for the last generation to do it, then tell the current generation you're arresting them and crushing their cars.

Also, jsut for the record, if any of you have seen the way these morons line the streets to watch a race, frankly, the gene pool just got a little chlorine.

It wasn't their fault the guy can't drive, but at the same time you wouldn't stand at the end of a rifle range with the assumption that nobody is going to miss the target and hit you.

*blink*

Street racing was CERTAINLY NOT ok in prior generations. Cars were impounded and people were OFTEN hauled off to jail.

Of course, for at least a couple of prior generations, the hottest stuff we had to work with was a MIGHTY 140hp Fox Mustang. Nowadays, if a Cobalt dared make that the base engine, we would deride it for being a slug.

LAMRONH,
1 mph = 1.433 feet per second. If you're racing down the road at 100 mph, that's 143 feet per second. Most cars need more than 150 feet to stop from 70 mph.

I don't care if you're Mario ******** Andretti, if you're street racing at 100 mph and someone who doesn't know how fast you're moving pulls out 50 feet in front of you, you'll hit them with more force than driving off the side of a 5 floor parking garage, and you won't even have time to start hitting the brakes.

I don't care how good of a driver you thought you were, if you were running at 100 mph or faster on regular roads, YOU ARE AN IDIOT, and luck is the only reason you haven't caused someone's death.
