hey guys. Just wondering how hard it is to change a driver side 1996 grand am window motor. I've never replaced a window motor.

My g/fs window got stuck, but later went up, so it might need to be replaced. If the window gets stuck, is there a way to keep it up? I know GM in the 90's especially have had problems with their window motors, including some early gen 2000's..

If it's anything like my 1993 Camry...it's pretty easy. As long as you can remove the door panel, the rest is pretty straight forward.

Found a possible good link for you.... Grand Am window reg R2

edit: I see GMCSonoma chimed in with excellent advice!

The 92-98 Grand am is totally different than the 99-05....

There is a counterbalance spring to be careful with...motor is riveted to regulator...can be bolted it a blind head bolt is used...
God i hate springs... thats why I don't do drum brakes.

Have a diagram by chance Sonoma? :)
