The W-body Cutlass of 1988-1997 vintage did not suffer from the same intermediate steering shaft issues as the newer designed W-body cars like the Grand Prix, Intrigue, Regal/Century and Impala of 1997 on up models. Your Intrigue has both a different engine and a slightly different transmission compared to the Cutlass. The Cutlass 3100/4t60 combo can be a very good powertrain but please be aware that the 3100/3400 engine family is notorious for intake mainfold failure which if let go too long can let coolant into the engine oil and wipe out your cam, lifters and bottom end. They make improved gaskets for these engines that last a lot longer than stock so I would recommend getting this done ASAP. I would also have the transmision flushed and a new filter installed as these are very sensative to varnish and debris. Both me and my folks have owned these cars and found them pretty reliable overall. Power window motors can fail if used frequently but they are pretty easy to swap out, the rear suspension is a fiberglass mono leaf design and sometimes the rubber bushings go on them. Other than that these are decent cars with roomy comfortable interior, decent materials and dash design and peppy performance from the 3100. The 1995 models of this car got a redesigned dash for better legibility and dual front airbags so it should be safe too. ABS was std in all models.
