As gaudy, overdone, and "lookit me!!" as the 71 Mach I was, this blue one is more overdone by magnitudes.
I don't see what the thrill is regarding 18s or 20s or 22s or 24s, but I have fortunately been spared the infection.

Looks like I'm battin' 500 on this one! Both guys love it! LOL
sigh...it's a model...it's not real. They don't make 20's in this style, or 18's...sometimes you take what you can get. The kit supplied wheels looked like teddy bears and the Mini-lites that also came with the kit didn't really do anything for me (they'll look better on the 240Z). I coulda grabbed a set of big a55 BFG's and Cragar 15's...but I grew up in that era, and frankly consider that to be the grossest look ever to roll the face of the earth. I'd give myself up to Mike Tyson before I'd have a car with those on them. Sooner drive hubcaps & whitewalls. Or a Buick...come to think of it there's a nice pearlish white Lucerne across the street that looks sweet..and I think it has 18's on it...nice...

Well, I appreciate the workmanship and painting skills, even tho I'm not a fan of 70s Mustangs. I think the stance and wheel combo give it a modern look too. I love that color -- what is it?
I'm just about to get back into model building, and I have a couple questions that I think you've answered before. What do you use for a source for detail parts (ie tires & wheels, wires, etc)? What painting equipment do you use?

Hey Puzzel...love your bike. When & if I ever get a ride again...it'll either be another V-Max (new one sounds good - if they ever release it) or something like a VTX. I'm getting older, probably don't need a 200 hp 2 wheeler.
To answer your questions, I get my wheels from Hobbylinc.com out of Nebraska I believe (mail order) or Model Express out of BC (Canada). Both are good, Dennis at Model Express is much more like dealing with your own dad - assuming your dad is nothing but patient and kind anyway. H/L is more like a 'business'. Dennis has an awesome rep. There's other of course too...and more detail parts than I'll ever be able to afford (you should see the REALLY good guys. I'm process cheese compared to them.) Scale Dreams also has tons of stuff.
Paint I use Creatix Auto Air water based paints and mix my own colours with (drum roll) water! And Future floor polish, 33:33:33 mix. 1% BS. Clear with a good enamel clear (or Urethane - U-Pol is super nice stuff, just not indoor friendly). Sprayed out of a Paasche air brush and a little air compressor - no filter, so what if water gets in the lines, I'm mixing paints with water!
BMC is a good model forum, Scale Auto too, they're just not as nice...or maybe they're just more 'honest'..if you suck they'll let you know. BMC rather encourages you to get better instead of making you feel like a loser if you're not a pro. There's another but I can't think of it's name...I'm sure there are more.
BTW - I hate those Mustangs too...but the two I did make me think there's potential there if someone did them right (ie "had money"). Where's Chip Foose when you need him!?

Thanks for the info on tools & supplies. I'm setting up my "work" area now -- time to make the leap into airbrushes. I've got a few older kits lying around -- good fodder for practice.

I can't believe I hadn't check MDaily since early June...I completely missed that! And I look there all the time...ever since they had it in their rumour section! Doh! Thanks for the tip...I'm gonna go drool now...

Looks pretty nice. I'm glad you have a decent hobby that you enjoy. I think you truly are very talented and would love to be able to do that!

I can't afford the real thing so instead I pump hundreds of dollars into paint and clear coat...kinda stupid (I could own a Factory 5 Coupe by now!! Aaaargh!), but this way I get all kinds of cars I'll never have, and with something like this one, because I hate 71-74 Stangs anyway, I can try to make them look better. Or worse in some peoples opinions. It makes me happy...and a few others too. If I could play guitar or sing, I'd probably do that. Girls probably find that cooler LOL.
