Hey,
Image

Just wanted to let you know that I still have my '65 Chevy that I purchased new in August 1965. It is a 396 with original engine, 4 speed transmission and rear. I have taken care of it and it never has let me down. I purchased it new at Timmers Chevrolet in Atlanta and shortly after I made the purchase was drafted and went to Vietnam.

I would love to see the pics of your car. That thing has to be just sweet arss sweet.

P.S Welcome to GMi. You'll like it here. Some of the forums get pretty intense, but there is a lot of good information about the automotive industry in general on here.

Agreed! We need pics.

Even though I was a Ford fan at that time (owned a 63 Galaxie 500 XL). The 65 Chevy was great.

I think it would be cool to own any car for 43 years, let alone a big-block Impala! Outstanding car, and I hope you can pass it on to your kids some day and keep it in the family.

My sister has owned her '71 Firebird since it was brand new, but it's not looking NEARLY as nice as your '65!

My older brother bought a new 65 Impala SS just before he left for Nam. I sure hauled around a bunch of girls in that car while he was gone. 327/300 four speed. Ahh, those were the days. Good old car, running well over 100k miles until he got T-boned in the rear quarter.

That sounds familiar! My younger brother would slip and take my '65 out of the garage while I was in 'Nam. One night while he was taking some girls for a spin and showing off he damaged the gears and had to have it towed back home to the garage. My Dad was smart and did not have the transmission repaired until right before my tour ended. I did not find this out until I returned home after 'Nam.

Thanks for all the kind words! Both of my sons drove it during their high school days in the late 80's and early nineties. It survived because they knew old dad wanted to keep it and pass it down to them. It will definately stay in the family! IT IS PART OF THE FAMILY AND THE MEMORIES ARE ENDLESS. :)

INDEED!

My '81 MC SC was purchased by my parents brand new. I bought it from them in December 1999, because I didn't want it to suffer the same fate their (er, "my") '76 MC did.

BUT ... my '81 MC SC is not in near as good as shape as your car, yellow65.

Again ... welcome!

I'll help my ol' Man out. I'm the youngest son that wrecked that beautiful car by getting t-boned in the rear quarter panel. I can remember that day in High School like it just happened....frame...by frame...by frame...by frame! Dad and I worked on "Lilly" together, my White 65 Impala SS that we bought for $900 and restored. We sold it for $2,000  in ~1995. It was in beautiful condition, with white/turquoise interior and a 283 w/PG. (the numbers didn't match though). I'm getting ready to buy a Jeep wrangler as my Daily Driver, but my next car (toy) will be a '65 Impala SS to restore!

Anyway, enough about me. Here are all of the pics for Dad's car.

I'll get him to take more of the inside and engine and upload those as well.
