12th Generation F-150 updates

So we have all head that there are to be updates to the F-150 before its total redesign in my2012. But these have been all over the place. So to clarify this please tell the update and then say the model year in which it will be released. We knw the the SVT Raptor will be coming but will there be a SVT Lightning, how about the return of the FX2.

I still find it hard to believe that there will be a radically different F-150 for 2012. They went through an awful lot of trouble to change the 2009 to let it sell for only three years; it wend a lot farther than just an MCE.

Yeah i'm not expecting a major update for 2012 Ford put so much work into the 09 that I cannot imagine them doing another radical redesign so early. (The last gen truck went for 5 years with out a significant redesign and the tenth gen lasted for seven years before it was redesigned). Anyway Igor might have some answers to your questions. But IMO the FX2's future is clouded right now since the SVT Raptor was designed to be the ultimate off road f 150. With that in mind it would be pointless to build the FX2 because the Raptor would steal sales from the it.

The FX2 was a sport truck not an off roader!

First off all the 2009 F150 is riding on the 04 platform and by 2012 it will be 8 years old so yes its time to replace it, and the 09 will be 4 years on the market since its coming in Aug 08 and that means the new one will come by summer 2012 and thats a 4 year run. Considering the refresh GM gave the 800 back in 03 but the truck was in production from 98 to 07 so thats a 9 year run so Ford is on the right track with this

Looking at this illustration and then the grill on the 2010 Taurus, I think we can tell how they are transforming their trademark grill.

I can see myself owning one of these in about a decade.

I absolutely love my current F150, but I refuse to buy a truck that's not already largely depreciated. (My cheapskate side. Inherited from mom.)

What is the "Raptor" and can you make a true Lightning when all F150's currently are 3 door min?

Just in case you missed it Big Al the "Raptor" is the codename for SVT's off road version of the F 150. Basically it makes the FX4 look wussy in comparison. Also IMO I think it would be possible to make a 3 door lightning but it wouldn't be the same as a 2 door

I thought I had read that Ford was not going to make an SVT truck using the current heavy F-150 platform. Probably best. I bet they have something else in the works on another chassis. I really liked the adrenaline concept and that made far more sense than a two seater pickup to me that is only RWD.

Saw 3 of them, last night, with Manufacturers plates on them. Caught in that bad traffic backup on 23, north at Owen Rd. These trucks are sharp!

any pictures? and were they raptors or normal 09 fords?

For 09 the regular cab loses the access doors and is a much better looking 2 door now.

That was always my complaint with the '04-'08 F-150s, and I wasn't alone. The short doors and A-pillar right beside my face never felt right.
