There is a website out there that basically modifies any vehicle to accommodate the tracks.

    http://www.mattracks.com/

Wouldn't surprise me to see an H2 or H3 modified with these in the northern region.

Update: They have at least one H1 on that site, as well as one H2.

    Yes,

But this is a 6x6 with an even more extreme Half-Track conversion.

ok so maybe its not a hummer but the idea is pretty sweet. You dont have to even modify the driveline or stretch it out. They make bolt on setups for tracked systems.

Rex, you are the only customer I can envision.

You, plus ski lodges and mountain resorts, Canadian Oil Companies, County Fire Departments and Search & Rescue all over the place. But that's only like 3 customers aint it?

I never intended it to be pretty, but I bet if one of these pulled up in a Shopping Mall car park it would draw crowds like crazy.

I don't know if you've seen those drag racing snowmobiles, but there is no reason why these track vehicles can't go as fast and as hard as any wheeled vehicle. In fact the drag racing snowmobiles are some of the fastest accelerating vehicles in the world.

I've been looking into that and apparently in the US they are street legal if they have rubber track pads, not plain metal tracks.

Another interesting point is that the American WWII halftracks used a system where the halftracks swapped in where normal truck wheels were. So you could chose to have the vehicle as a wheeled or halftrack, depending upon seasonal conditions.

I might have to photoshop a wheeled version of this Hummer for summer months.

    Edit as promised:
