I say either 1. Bel Air or 2. Corvair. They would be great. And I'd love to see a modern, rear-engined Corvair. I'm fascinated with rear engined cars, they are so neat, and different. I know I'd buy one!

howsabout we go back to the future instead... maybe design a car from 30 years ago? pehaps take a current model that didnt exist back then, and pretend that it did.

you know what I think, I think we should take a car thats been around for a long time, say the Impala, and design a model from way in the future like 2050!
that would be a creative and fun contest.
who knows, it could be based on any model impala, could be retro or nothing like anything we have seen before.
it could be something that can change from a coupe to a sedan to a open back?
it could be full size cos by then hopefully we'll have know how to build full size cars that run very efficient/clean and fast on some new gas or run Hyg combustion engines

What a great way to establish your credentials so as to eventually work for GM and make a killing in commissions at a Chevy dealership. LOL.

I said awhile ago a vette would be a good contest but now I think
either a Nomad or Corvair would be more interesting...

i like the Pininfarina designed Corvair

I think the rest of my ideas were fine though.
They could be based upon GM models as part of the contest rules.

Design your own original Tuner(car/truck=small/mid-size trucks only).
Design your own original modern Muscle car(It must not look like anything we have now or have had. It has to be completely original).
Design the next Corvette(C7).(As Camaro Chris suggested)
    Design an original Supercar.
i like the muscle car idea.

Looks like ng Corvette/Corvair are the most popular. I like the Corvair idea cause I have a modern-day Corvair I drew a while back.
