The old 3-series, two door, hatch, is about the same size as the 1-series.

haha, just kidding. In all honesty, the actual bumper (below the bumper skin) will wind up being so close to the skin that it would be one hell of a hit to cause that sort of problem. If you've ever seen underneath a MINI's bumper skin, you'd see what I'm talking about.

I'm sure that the same thing has been considered with the CTS coupe...

I don't really think more bumper is necessary, the CTS coupe doesn't have one, why should this?

That looks more realistic, well done!

    Re: ATS Hatch

    Much better.

Now, you'd probably want to add a back bumper.

My suggestion is the way I do it: Click here. Check out the rear taillamp area for what I did. All you would have to do is add a tiny bit more overhang to what you have.

    Re: ATS Hatch

Per suggestions of AJ Slideways and ACcartoons, I have lengthened the rear door and the wheel base, and increased the slant of the window line.

Let me know what you think

    Re: ATS Hatch

I would have a steeper gradient for the rear window if I were going to improve the proportions.

    Re: ATS Hatch

The sketch needs some work done as the proportions are not right.

But the idea of a Cadillac hatch might work in Europe.

    Re: ATS Hatch

That is a great tip. I see what you mean on the 5 series picture. I will definently try lengthening the door that way.

    Re: ATS Hatch

This might be tough because you sketched it, but my suggestion is to either lengten the wheelbase or rear overhang. That way, you can gain a larger rear door while still keeping the hatchback profile instead of a wagon profile.

IMO, a well-proportioned four-door design keeps the front door and rear door about the same length, length being measured at the windowline. Like, in the image of the 5-series with its trunk open, you can see that at the windowline, the two doors are about the same length.

However, I do understand that some cars have their rear doors longer than the front doors on purpose.

    Re: ATS Hatch

I swear, everyone thinks too highly of the Converj concept...

IMO, the headlamps, taillamps, and side character line are too radical. Other than that, I like it.
I like the rendering, but I think it needs a longer rear door.
Thanks AJ and Slideways for giving some design feedback. I agree that Converj cues are still a model cycle or so away from being mainstream Cadillac, but I am a fan of the concept so I end up putting the Converj's lines onto my designs. As for the rear door, I will see what I can do. And thanks for trying to redirect the focus of this thread Slideways

Why don't we talk about the quality of the work instead of whether or not the vehicle would be a success?

It would be a great idea for GM in Europe.
Each of those Bimmers are disgusting looking. Seriously.
