New Orleans has buses. I always loved the trolleys so much nicer and cleaner.

Especially when you can put the smog-spewing power generating plants that fuel them down wind so it pollutes your neighbors.

Great news of course. But don't miss one subtle point.

Why the hell do the CNG buses have to come from China. The buses should be manufactured here. Made in USA. Used in USA.

    Argghh....

How many times do we need to read lame posts like this?

It's a FACT that a huge power plant running in a relatively steady state runs far cleaner and more efficiently than a bus, truck, or whatever doing a constant start-stop route using an ICE.

No, electric powered vehicles are not perfect - but they're a lot better than anything that you've invented lately.

    Entergy in Louisiana has nukes.

No smog emmisions...unless you count steam as smog.

I don't know anything about trolleys, but they do have "street cars," a misnomer for sure.

I wonder why Coke is using hybrid electric trucks. Aren't the hydraulic hybrids more efficient for large delivery type trucks?

I think Seattle was one of the first municialities to buy GM's hybrid buses. They seem to be giving very good service.

The Coke delivery trucks appear to be diesel electric units manufactured by Eaton and installed in medium-duty Peterbilts. Does Eaton actually manufacture these units or just assemble them. I would imagine the diesel component would be produced by Cummins,Detroit,or Caterpillar.

Washington State's King County Metro (Seattle area) has a fleet of 1300 buses, of which 146 are electric-only trolley buses, and 640 use biodiesel. Icouldn't get an exact figure, but a large number of the buses are Hybrids.

I was really excited to learn that my college (WKU) has started making it's own biodiesel down at our school's farm and using it on our large shuttle busses.

I just wish the public had access to it...$3.50 a gallon diesel is harsh!!

Our mayor just bought himself a Tahoe Hybrid to be motored around in. Pretty bad-ass looking too.
