Re: Industry Reports June 2013 Sales

When I first saw the results that GM was up 6.5% YoY June 2013, I thought this was a great month for GM. After having a chance to look GM's relative performance with respect to competitors and the industry in general, I have to stifle my enthusiasm just a bit. GM sales grew slower than the industry in general and slower than all real competitors.

What do the rest here think? Great month for GM or only so so?

Re: Industry Reports June 2013 Sales

It was a good month for GM and very realistic, those double digit increases GM had in 2011 were over the top in my opinion.

However there are weak areas that GM need to work on. GM's mid size sedans is one such area, Cadillac needs one or two more luxury crossovers, GM's brands still needs more market saturation on both coasts, especially in California where I think GM should consider again having a production facility.

I find it sad that some people wish for GM to fail and can't comprehend any good news. A plausible explanation for this kind of behavior is that you have a miserable life so you wish the same to others. Cory Pham, Autoblog Poster

GM must return its divisions to being interdependent entities within the corporation. Decentralize and free the different divisions talents to foster brand differentiation and customer loyalty.

Re: Industry Reports June 2013 Sales

Caddy needs more sales thankfully They sell more than Audi and that's a start. Hopefully when the new CTS arrives it can sell close to the E and 5 and I don't care what everyone says about crossovers but Cadillac needs more of them specially competitors to the X5, X3, and X1. They sell like hotcakes bring a lot of profit to the brand that can be used for more sport models we like.

What do I think? Well, you're utterly predictable and your posts are a lot like a broken record. Nobody believes that you originally "thought this was a great month for GM," by the way. It's pointless for you to try to save face at this point.

Also, good to see the MKZ is still setting the world on fire...

what I think the YTD for the most part is going the right direction
I think Caddy with its ATS/CTS expanded volume and the compact chevys are holding there own
the mid size family car is a weak spot

I'm amazed at how many pickups that GM, Ford and Ram are selling.

Those figures are awesome and I hope the big3 reinvest the profits wisely.

Americans continue to love the camry, accord and altima...........sucks for Malibu and Fusion.

Didn't we hear from at least 25 experts on this forum that Fusion was going to bury Malibu?

Fusion inventory is at 30 day. They will be very inventory constrained until Flat Rock is on line.

What's with the Camaro's brutal drop? Now well below the Mustang. At least the Challenger is doing better every month.

Just a few years ago Toyota was selling 40-45k Camrys a month while ~15k units for the Fusion or Malibu was considered a good month. The gap is shrinking.

Cruze up 73.2% and now comfortably the #1 seller in the compact segment. Very nice. I've been eyeing them myself for potential purchase.
