    Solstice Gets Performance Accessories

    Solstice Gets Performance Accessories

Production for the all-new 2006 Pontiac Solstice roadster is geared up to launch in mid-June of 2005. Because product “czar” Bob Lutz wanted the Solstice to be a basic roadster priced below $20,000; the Kappa-based roadster does not have all of the ‘goodies’ that one would think the car should have. However the Solstice has plenty of dealer-installed accessories to make the car more personal.

An array of accessories will be offered through GM Accessories once the Solstice lands in dealerships this Summer. Possibly the most exciting accessory is a Cat-back exhaust system. The exhaust will reduce backpressure for performance and allow for a more aggressive exhaust note. Another exciting accessory is an Adjustable Race Suspension that will enhance the Solstice’s handling. The package includes an uplift kit, springs, bushings and adjustable struts.

Other accessories include; Luggage Rack that attaches to the rear deck lid and 18” chrome wheels, which will become available in late 2005.

Also note that in 2007 the Solstice will get a GT performance model that will be powered by a Turbocharged 2.0L ECOTEC engine. It is said that the GT model will have a revised front fascia.

...aww man, the first thing I think of when I hear "rear-deck-mounted luggage rack" are those terrible things that they put on the back of Buick Sedans to make them look "Sporty" most of the old folks get them.

Is it confirmed that the GT will be turbocharged? I heard somewhere that the Redline version of the Sky will be supercharged... I definitely think turbo is the way to go, but for some reason GM seems to love superchargers instead...

And the luggage rack is a great performance accessory... How much horsepower does that add?

I'm glad GM is targeting June for production. I guess I can wait that long. I ordered my Solstice two weeks ago. The only performance item I added was Posi trac rear end. I also put ABS on it...not sure if you would consider that "performance".

As long as the car "rags" or mags don't dump on the Solstice, it should do real well.

If Pontiac marketing was good, the Solstice should be introduced at dealerships on the first day of the Summer Solstice.

Are you kidding? Turbo offsets the luggage rack. Either get both or stay with NA.

About the same as a type R sticker. Or when you put your name or the make of your car in old english writing on the windshield... You know. In case you forget who makes your car, or your name lol.

So lets see. Toyota lied about recalls. Lied about their HP ratings... I wonder how much truth is in their milage ratings..

I haven't heard anything about what it will look like, but I assume it will have a larger grille and/or lower aair intakes.

Could be an easy avenue for GM to later introduce a "Competition Package" with these things added on to the regular model with a discount. Or is there already one of those planned? I haven't been keeping track.

Turbo is the way to go and I wonder why they even have a supercharged ecotec when they already had the turbo ecotec it must have something to do with the cost. And from what I hear the Ecotec can be built to 350 hp without changing anything but the boost levels....that will be an amazing car to tune!

    Re: Solstice Gets Performance Accessories

It has been confirmed that both the Sky Redline and Solstice GT will have a turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec good for about 227-240HP I believe it was said.
