Exclamation GTO Thread on Honda site (GTO gets respect)

I stumbled upon this GTO "kill" thread on a Honda Tech site.
It is an interesting read. It is also interesting that the GTO and the LS1 get major respect.

    Here it is:

yeah, there are a few cars that are given their due regardless of personal tastes... lambos, ferraris, 911's, M's and AMG's for europe, and vettes, mustangs, f-bodies, and now the GTO is getting this treatment for american makes... and they all deserve it. what i find interesting is that most import guys will give the great american cars credit, but many domestic fans won't acknolwedge the better imports (not everyone does this, but i have seen it). skylines, supras, Z's and RX's are just as good as any mustang or f-body, i've seen supra dynos with 900hp AT THE WHEELS and skylines with over 800... and they have much the same heritage, especially in japan.

Well for one I wouldn't let ANYONE drive my car. And if he took it to 140mph? <my fist, his face>.

Even thought the GTO and Z/28 share the same engine, I think the GTO is much lighter. Isn't it?

No, the GTO is much heavier than the Z/28. I do agree about not letting anyone drive my car the way this guy did. That privilege is mine alone.

While I tend to agree with everything you said I think part of the lack of respect is the fact that a large percentage of these high hp imports, especially Supras, are typically dyno queens.

True. Except for first and second gen Eclipse's. When modded right, they can be animals! I still don't get why Mitsubishi cut it's balls off and then piled on the weight. At least they new one looks a lot better than the last ribbed special.

Ahh, but the last gen was "Ribbed for her pleasure" that counts for something doesn't it?
