    Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

Looking at recent inventory numbers for Buick, I was surprised by the percentage of imported vehicles (57,730) currently on the ground at Buick dealers around the country: 80.4%.

    Model/Inventory/Days To Sell
    Cascada 505 30
    Envision 12,023 93
    LaCrosse 1,000 23
    Regal 5,025 111
    Enclave 13,066 53
    Encore 40,177 127
    Total Buick 71,796 90

Re: Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

Go back a few decades and the percentage was probably under 1% (Opel models sold at Buick dealers).

I see the UAW/GM talks keeping one of the four "unallocated" production plants open...might be possible to bring one of these imported Buick CUVs home.

Re: Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

That's pretty sad, but hey, it's called "globalization" and it is done in the name of profit. In the meantime, the prices are going up at the consumer's end.
In today's internet age, you cant hide these facts that easily. Some folks don't care where it is from, for them a Buick is Buick, but for others, like myself, it matters a lot. Might as well buy a Hyundai, it comes from the same part of the world so I have choices.
At this point, a Tundra made in Texas sounds pretty hot. Or a Rav4 made in Canada.
    Another thumbs down for GM.

Re: Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

It is sad and seems unlikely to change. Considering that China is the reason for Buick's survival, having vehicles sourced offshore isn't a surprise.

Will they really sell over 5,000 Regals in 111 days? Seems optimistic. Nice car that no one wants.

I don't get some of these numbers. I can only find 2 Regals in inventory (both Black) of the 10 dealerships in my area. The Encore numbers are shocking as this used to be a hot seller for Buick. I Guess they ordered too many from Korea. I don't see why there is talk of Buick selling both old Encore and new Encore GX. Just bring on the new as the old Encore and Trax are homely and cannot compete with Kia Soul and Hyundai Kona.

Re: Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

Well there was that spy shot of a 2 row C1XX(?) Buick that was undergoing testing...perhaps 1 of those unallocated plants can be utilized to build that and bring Blazer production stateside. I don't have a problem w/ the mexican production but apparently that's a yuge problem for the Blazer as sales have to be in the dump as I've only seen 2 on the road and it's been out a while.

I've read some stories that the UAW is fully prepared to strike regarding the contract negotiations with GM, they aren't too happy about the foreign vehicles.

At least in that 1%, Opel offered something way cooler than anything in the 80% offered today... the Opel GT. I'd rather have a GT over anything that GM imports today.

We had a great little 2 seater: Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky. GM had to kill off the Dover, DE plant too. These cars would have made great little EV skateboards.

We seem to forget that Buick was on the chopping block and the reason they are alive is the very reason we are all disappointed. If it wasn't for the Chinese market, Buick would have went with Pontiac and the rest.

Re: Stat Of The Day: 80.4%

That Opel GT was a nice car. When I was a kid though, the name Opel was about as tarnished as the name Fiat. They were synonymous with poor quality. Which is why the disappeared from Buick dealerships never to be seen again. I always thought they should have tried again and sold them in Saturn dealerships, which they tried with the Astra. The Calibra was a pretty sharp car.

    No surprise.

Lacrosse at 1000 is just scary. Regal at only 5000 is pretty pathetic, too bad it's a pretty nice looking car.
