Truth of the matter is that the XT6 is a "Tall Car..," like all other CUvs.. not many buyers will ever even get them dirty let alone think of taking off-roading. The sheer notion that in 2019 anyone buying a luxury CUV is off-roading them in the United States or China for that matter is ridiculous. One thing I will say is I've been seeing all three of the XTx CUVs out on the road in abundant numbers. Caddy did something right I'd say.

I notice that look going on in various vehicles and have thought the same about my own Rogue and more so the newer ones. They look almost "Drop Jawed" when designed like that.

Seeing them on transport truck en route to a dealer doesn't count

the main time drivers in China need clearance is for storm water. Lots of areas of China get typhoons or their remnants and it buckets down. Where I lived was part of Zhuhai city (opposite from Macau) and it got 2 metres of rain a year on average.

I would also add that some of the "facts" in their reporting aren't true: The Regal isn't dated ("Its last car, the Regal sedan (now also offered in hatchback and wagon variants), is dated and in need of a costly redesign") and the GX really isn't a variant of the Encore and shares nothing but a name ("The tiny South Korean-sourced Encore line of crossovers is up slightly this year, and hoping for a boost from a coming variant, the GX.").

Regardless, removing the name from the back of the car doesn't meant that the brand is going to die. Mitsubishi did this years ago, and despite far worse sales and image, they're still around. And the loss of passenger cars isn't an example of Buick's death, but just underpins that the entire market is shifting away from passenger cars. It doesn't signify a death-knell anymore than the Ford brand's plans to drop all passenger cars (save the Mustang) means Ford will axe their eponymous marque.

Buick Name Is Erased From Buicks as Sales Slip for Century-Old Marque

As of the 2019 model year, the Buick name is no longer stamped across the back of its North American models. In China, where Buick claims most of its sales these days, the “Buick” nameplate disappeared years ago. The brand’s logo is all that’s left, and soon, the company might be gone from the car business altogether — making only S.U.V.s and crossovers.

The only 2 Buick vehicles I like are the Regal and Enclave and the Regal is really just an Opel.

I have owned many Buicks, so it pains me to say this: End the madness and just make Buick a Chinese Brand.

Hmmm, Encore and Enclave sell well, I'd say hang in there. Maybe a RWD Buick sedan based on CT5? (Look at Charger/Challenger sales, going well.)

Article is nonsense. The SUV's sell well and the new Enspire and Encore GX are coming out. Buick's not going away.

Didn't we have this same discussion 2 weeks ago? Maybe I should go and start a C8 coupe reveal thread.

I think Encore (new model on the way), Enclave and Regal should stay. One more crossover based on the Trailblazer should be added. Done.

    Regal wagon can go also.

Can't add cars in this environment.

Change the Buick logo also - my opinion.
