General Motors accidentally revealed a Chevrolet Bolt-based crossover in 2017 and now it appears the model is almost ready for production.

Given an unceremonious unveiling by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the crossover will be known as the Buick Velite 7.

As you can see, the model is virtually identical to the crossover that was outed over two years ago. However, there are some slight differences including a modified front bumper and a revised grille with a Buick emblem.

Re: Chevy’s Bolt-Based Crossover Surfaces In China As The Buick Velite 7

While the Velite 7 will likely be exclusive to China, General Motors has already announced plans to invest $300 (Ł230 / €270) million into Orion Assembly to build a new electric vehicle for Chevrolet. At the time, the automaker confirmed the upcoming model would be “designed and engineered off an advanced version of the current award-winning Bolt EV architecture.”

That particular crossover is expected to be called the Bolt EUV (Electric Utility Vehicle) and it should look largely identical to the Velite 7. However, we can expect a more powerful electric motor that develops at least 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 266 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.
This part mirrors what we've seen rumored before. So in a way we will be getting one here as well I guess.

looks nice enough IMHO the floating roof / rear pillar treatments is IMHO getting old as every "CUV" does it one way or another

Agreed. The C pillar treatment looks like crap and everyone is just copying their neighbor's crap visually...

I'm tending to lean the same way on this. I was just looking at the new Chevy Trailblazer and I kind of think that the monotone color combos make that not look so "bad" or "me too-ish" as the two tone ones do.

Wonder if this is what GM had planned to reveal at CES?

I sometimes wonder that, if, online forums had existed in the 1950’s and ‘60’s, if ppl would have said the same about every car getting tail fins

Possibly, but tail fins were popular for several decades in one form or another; though the late 50's to early '60's they were the King of styling trends...it was dawn of the space age!

Reminds me of the new Corolla 2020 face. Doesn't look bad. Too bad China gets first dibs at things from GM nowadays. How the times have changed....

Nice fin in your avatar there. I'm thinking it would discourage tailgaters too.

the ERA of the "full sized" tail fin lasted about 5 years and more like 3 culminating in teh 59 CADDY and LOOK what CHEVY did with the FIN in 58 - they LAID them over to make WINGS

this "C" pillar on design is offering LITTLE "originality" brand to brand and with the CUV-come-EGG designs EVERY CUV looks the same unlike mid 50's JETY age tail designs on cars

Unfortunate that the name that adorned a sexy RWD softop 2x2 Convertible ended up being plastered on an EV crapbox.

Imagine if Cadillac rolled out a production version of this as the Cien 3

This is a perfect fit for Buick NA. Buick should have been the leader of EV design and production in NA, it is more true to their innovative heritage. An upscale EUV to compliment the more downscale Chevy. Why can't GM see that the reason Buick is an underperformer here is because they starve it of all the wonderful products it is capable of producing.

With GM's love affair with China, I expected more then this. Looks like an Encore GX with Bolt EV hardware bolted in. VSS platform was EV capable from design. GM is way behind Ford, VW and others in EV products if they have nothing else to show yet.
