I wonder if this will work here. Stuart Fowle was telling me that many millennial buyers are interested in Buicks because they view them as smart and stylish choices. The Encore kills in Manhatten, so they say, and I have to wonder how a Voltec Buick would fair here targeted at millennials and young urban families. Or even a Buick branded Bolt, but like a Bolt All Road kinda job...

How about an uneven trade: a Buick Volt/Bolt for China and a Verano in sedan, 3 door, and 5 door hatch for the US.

I think it would have a shot if it was a crossover. It'd be about the same size as the current Verano, correct? They are killing that off, so what does that tell us?

The more I think about this, the more I believe they really need an SUV/CUV with Voltech under it for both Buick and Chevrolet and maybe Cadillac as well.

GM might be more than a little gun shy after the whole ELR saga.

in addition, in China a badge swap may work, but here in North America the general buying public would demand significantly different sheet metal, and I'm not sure Buick would make that sort of investment.

This would be a great move if they stled it appropriately, gave it US version and exported it from USA.

as in USA and import TO CHINA? I believe there is a BIG TAX incentive for "new energy" cars IF they are CHINESE sourced but NOT import sourced and that + "tech sharing" is why the VOLT did NOT see China last time around

Meanwhile Congress is chewing their nails.

We need to clean house over there. Why is it so easy to import **** from China in these shores? It should cost an arm and a leg.

A Buick version of the Volt here, outside of a badge engineered job, would be a wast of time/money, the Volt isn't selling in the cheaper guise as a Chevy now!

Probably better to spread Voltec technology to other existing cars/trucks rather than trying to sell a brand-new nameplate? How about a 45MPG Encore Hybrid?

I actually like the looks of the Volt in Buick guise better than the new Volt, they went over-board with the tinfoil grilles.

Yes, but how many years have we been holding our breath for that one? I have a suspicion that GM know what would happen to Volt sales if a more desirable body-type was offered.

After years and years of lack-luster sales, we've been conditioned to see these low volumes out of the Volt, 1,500 - 2,000 - 2,500 a month is not "good", again cheap-gas is the demon.
