General Motors continued to expand sales across China in the ongoing contest for position atop the world’s largest market for new vehicles.

GM and its joint ventures reported record June deliveries in China of 273,563 units, which was up 11.2% on an annual basis. The Buick, Cadillac and Baojun brands had their best June ever.

Its strong performance in June enabled GM to set a first half record for deliveries in China. Demand was up 5.3% from the first six months of 2015 to 1.81 million units

Re: GM's Chinese Sales Rise in June

Once again Buick leads the way for GM's "U.S." based brands sales with sales up 10 percent to 86,054 units in June with Excelle GT sales over 26,000 and Envision over 14,000 units.

Cadillac deliveries in June jumped 34 percent on an annual basis to 9,552 units with ATS-L (When will the ATS-L be offered in the U.S.?), XTS and XT5 all surpassing 2,000 units last month.

Chevrolet deliveries were down 25 percent year over year in June to 35,648 units most likely due to Buick, Cadillac and Baojun having d their best June ever and Wuling sales up 8.1 percent to 99,017.

Total sales for General Motors and its joint ventures in China of 273,563 was up 11.2 percent on an annual basis.

This will likely be the future trend as China base JV "volume brand" sales will increase at Chvrolet's expense while Buick continues to lead U.S. based sales revenue and margins and another reason GMC needs to be introduced as GM's premium SUV/Truck brand in China by sharing product with Buick/Opel and Cadillac.

Buick will continue to attract Chinese buyers while GMC can expand Buick dealer sales to SUV buyers looking for an alternative to Jeep and Land Rover.

Cadillac can continue it's growth in China focusing on luxury brands of Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz with Cadillac's primary focus being on Audi's Q3, Q5 and Q7 with their own XT3, XT5 (off to a good start) and future XT7.

That's why I'll only give this news a "hoo" vs. "hooray".

I read recently that China might do away with that 50% rule... Hopefully they do.
