    Chevrolet SS/Holden Swan Song a Hellcat-Fighter?

Is GM Readying its Own Hellcat Fighter?
GM could be bidding farewell to the Holden Commodore in style with a Hellcat fighter.
    Jason Siu/AutoGuide

Rumor has it that Holden wants to go out with a bang, creating the most powerful muscle car ever in Australian history by fitting the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 from the discontinued Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 under the hood of its Commodore sedan.
The big question is whether or not it’ll make its way to America as a hotter Chevrolet SS variant, at which point it’ll truly be a four-door Corvette.
Read all about it in the above link.

Why GM wants to scrub the best sedan they have ever produced is way beyond me . Thousands follow the Chevy SS forums and this vehicle has produced the most 5 star reviews in any GM product I can recall . It isn't sold in Canada , which is a real shame and indeed , it is difficult for US customers to get a good color selection , or get timely delivery . This supercharged vehicle , hellcat fighter , will be a hot , for what , one year availability , go figure !
GM says nothing about it's plans here , doesn't advertise it , as far as I know and some enthusiasts think the car is so bland . This , however , is the ultimate sleeper , understated and surprising....when you step on the gas , oh my......there is a wizard in the land of Oz , but he takes his vacations right here , catch him if you can !!

IF it was going to happen, it would be HSV that does it rather than Holden:

I think you miss the point - I doubt GM wants to scrub it. Rather, it's a manufacturing issue.

Really ? They've had ample opportunity to develop it further in Australia, or take the concept further and build it somewhere else, but have chosen not to. Not sure how that's a manufacturing issue.

The Hellcat-fighter reference is odd. Neither the Charger or Challenger are sold in Australia and from what appears to be a poorly researched article I gleaned that GM have made no commitments for such a car to be sold as a Chevy. So where exactly will it fight the Hellcat ?

Gonna have to crank up the boost to that, of course, at least based on how the CTS-V (which also has the 8AT) fares against the Hellcat Charger in a straight line.

Considering manufacturing is leaving Oz, I'd venture to insist it's a manufacturing issue.

Same as the Camaro a few years ago - Chevrolet let the car die while utilizing the plant for more pertinent, profitable vehicles. Then, after a respite, the Camaro came back.

It is a sales issue. GM chose to bleed out Holden rather than sell it as a going concern (unlike what Ford did with Volvo).

Can I inquire as to your avatar? Inside joke or is that a real thing that people want/consider?

So if sales have been poor, and GM wants to reduce manufacturing costs by moving it overseas, that's not a manufacturing issue?

HSV has been using the LSA for a while. The article your talking about says LS9 which is a different rumor. Drive also isn't a great source.
