Any insight as to why Ranger crushes Colorado in sales?? Is it due to the powertrain options available in each or something else?

Unfortunately, Colorado is still perceived as a crap truck due to the poor efforts on those
previous versions. It's going to take a generation or so to cultivate more worthwhile sales.

Meanwhile, Holden advertising of Colorado borders on stereotyping and insulting to actual buyers......It's like Holden is incapable of advertising anything that's not a Commodore.

Ford began its cultivation with T6 back in 2011, there's no shortcuts for Holden......

I wonder if CX5 is buoyed by run it sales still. I wouldn't think so.

The 3 and CX-5 have both been very good for Mazda, buyers just seem to love them.
maybe they're seen as a cut above Corolla and RAV4.....

If anything, Ford is on the rise while Holden is still going down.

And also what I'm seeing is a lot of multi franchise dealerships where Ford and Holden
are now incremental business rather than the main brand.

Now that Mustang back orders have all been filled, it will be interesting to see how many
sales Ford continues to get, they have quite a bit of Mustang inventory now stored up
at the old Broadmeadows plant. How ironic that Mustangs now sit on the very spaces
once reserved for freshly build Falcons...

Just the paint colours, especially the metallic red, would swing me towards Mazda over Toyota. I am sure I am not alone on that. Mazda have had a good following going back to the SS days. In my family others have had an SS, 626 a couple of RX7's.

Ahh, the Mazda Luce; one of the most beautifully refined shapes of the 1960s.

China you might enjoy this excellent read, from an Oz author, who details Giugiaro's involvment in the Luce (towards the lower page) among much else..

Wow - we get the cars we deserve...

Out of the top 20 there is only one car that appeals to me - and I just sold the one I had...

In five years time our roads will look like Thailand - dominated by small/medium trucks with a few token small sedans/hatches. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted...

Ultimately that's what killed it in the end imo. We are building what no one else was. A large car that doesn't handle like a tank in the marshes is an alien concept in most markets.

It will be interesting to see if the new Dunnydore can break the back of the SUV fad. The diesel offroadyishnotreally version should help. It's on trend at least with the allroad/ Alltrack/ cross country etc.

...or should that be, ' We are building what no one else wants..."

No one bothered to try building a modern SUV - until last year, Ford's Territory
was based upon a concept first shown in the late 1990s, almost 20 years ago...

How wrong was Devereux when he said the sheer scale of choice for SUV buyers – that end of the market is among the most diversified – meant even the biggest sellers struggled the get the requisite volume to justify local manufacture.
“But here’s the thing: there are 80 different SUVs that you all can buy, there are six or seven different types of large cars, there are about 20 different types of small cars. So even though SUVs are booming, there’s a huge amount of choice.
“In any given month there aren’t any SUVs in the top-10 selling cars in the country. We at Holden, and actually Ford and Toyota, in order to make things in this country, primarily for this country, have to make top-10 selling cars.
