So I got a test drive

Problem is I like it but the family accountant seems to think we should still hold out for a demo SV6 Sportwagon preferably on LPG

    I love that Ute though

    Good luck deciding...

Your cars run on LPG..? Fill is in....

Expensive option? What happens with performance? Up or down?

    Mileage ? Cost?

2K Option but there is a 2K Government rebate so its effectively free

You use more Gas than Petrol but it's about half the price (F/E = about 9L/100kays on petrol and about 12-13 on Gas )

Performance is a little down but not very much - actually better with some systems

I think Fridays Daily telegraph had a review of a LPG wagon in the auto section, said for private buyers the sums didnt add up.
They compared the 600 something KM range of the Commodore to the 1150KM range of a mondeo diesel. Slightly worse resale value over the petrol.

I've not read the article but I really don't see how it couldn't add up if the option is effectively free then it's only running costs which should be cheaper day to day

I'm not seeing the advantage in the Mondeo as I've driven them and they are too small for me

That range(600km) isn't an issue for me as I get that right now with the Captiva

There was a review of a LPG Evoke sedan in the local paper last week. Typical piece of someone who was going to hate it no matter what. Interior cheap, mylink a waste - should have sat nav, etc etc

Though I agree that the Evoke wagon in white (typical telco or rep mobile) is rather ho hum in the looks dept.

Good option for engine work. LPG has lower combustion temperatures so you can run higher ignition advance, ie lumpier cams!

I always smile when a comparo comes up with something about range from a tank of juice. Only 600 kms? That's six hours behind the wheel. Not often people will drive for 6 hours straight without stopping. 1150 kms? 11 1/2 hrs driving? Even in Australia there are not many who would drive for so long, irrespective of how comfortable a car is. Still the popular press has to cater for the people who provide their business lunches (pun intended) ;-)
