New Ford Everest Catches fire during test drive

Well now this is interesting and more than a little concerning

On the same platform as the new Ranger and there have been a few fires that Ford have been writing off as customers modifying their vehicles

    Hmmmm

I wonder if Ford will start a new campaign of giving a free Fire Extinguisher with every sale

FORD Australia is conducting an investigation into what caused its latest model — the new Everest SUV — to suddenly burst into flames during a test drive.

The car maker is yet to issue a recall until it examines the wreckage.

But the incident could affect not only the 1000 or so Everest SUVs on the road, but more than 100,000 Ford Ranger utes, which share the same engine and electrical system and are made on the same production line.

A month or so ago, having been waiting for a closer look at one of these some time, I was delighted to see one on the road coming toward me on the Pacific Hwy late in the afternoon.

I was then less than impressed when I realised it had only one headlight on. $5 says there are electrical issues.

At least one already did (see mbukukanyau's post #2 above).

It's not just in the Land Down Under where Ford is hotter than ever!

Maybe, maybe not. If you're thinking of the incident involving a potential customer at Hardin Buick-GMC in Anaheim, California in March 2014, there is a GMI Forums thread on it: https://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f...n-fire-158177/

It's not the first Everest or Ranger V Car

Ford has a serious problem here but is sweeping it under the carpet ALA Toyotas and VW issues

Yep that was because some dumbarse yank didn't wire up the extra battery for the light bars and **** correctly

    Lets get real here

Ford have a problem the car was brand new and just out of a dealership went on a test drive and spontaneously combusted

For the last few years they have been claiming that any fires and other associated electrical problems with Rangers (built on the same platform as Everest) are to do with customers modifying cars

looking at this anyone with half a brain is going to question their motives
