    Back in Oz!

Just wanted to say hi again to all the Aussie members here and to let you know I am back in Oz! Was in last time for the Formula 1 in Melb, but have the wife and kiddos on this trip and we are here for a glorious 3 weeks! We landed in Sydney on Friday and have had 2 great days in Darling Harbour. Took the ferry to Circular Quay and strolled through the aritsans market in The Rocks, then Luna Park.

Sydney is beautiful, but maddening to get around! We leave on Monday, head to Dubbo for a day, then it's off to Melbourne for the rest of the trip. Any advice on sightseeing is greatly appreciated and, who knows, maybe I'll get to a car show while I'm here. I'm certainly going to visit a Holden dealer before I go!

So far we are having a great time and enjoying the heck out of your lovely country! Oh, and you are all so friendly, as well. I love it! Wonderful people!

    Cheers!

I trust you hired a Prius or Hybrid Camry cos they are the best to drive long disance in with FamilyNa Hope you got something decent to drive though nothing like a roomy car for country travel rather than sitting on top of one another for hours on end.
Hope you and your family enjoy thr trip and eat plenty of Vegemite cos it is awsome I eat it by the spoonfull.

How old are the kiddos (we sometimes call them Billies which comes from rhyming slang - Billy Lids). There are quite a few things that they may be interested in like Healesville Sanctuary where they have native animals for them (and you) to look at. there is plenty of sport on at the moment - mainly the different codes of football, plus there is horse racing. Pity you are not here in early Sept when the V8 Supercars are in Melbourne.

I'm traveling with some friends from Melbourne and there's 10 of us with the kids (ages 11-17), so we are traveling in a rented Toyota HiAce Commuter, lol! Not the coolest vehicle by far, but it gets us around.

P.S. I did try the Vegemite... yuk! Lol!

Thanks, we are really looking forward to that! We went to Echo point on Sunday, saw the 3 Sisters and rode the 52 degree railway down and the cable car back up. That was an enjoyable drive through the hills, but the traffic! Wow!

We ended the day back in Darling Harbour for dinner at Kamikaze for some great hibachi Japanese food! What a view from that restaurant!

Today, making some sales calls in Sydney and then off to Dubbo!

If only you could have gone another 90 minutes past the sisters - to Bathurst! Mecca for Holden V8 Supercar fans!

I recently drove from Brisbane to Sydney & back. Back was the long way, from Sydney, through Bathurst (& around the Mount Panorama circuit), then Orange and up to Dubbo.

Good roads in NSW, passing lanes for when people will need them to pass your van!

Yes, it is a real experience driving around the track.
Btw it is a public road most of the time.

We did go through Bathurst on our way to Dubbo yesterday, but it was dark by the time we got there. My mate asked if I wanted him to take a lap around Mount Panorama (and believe me, I so wanted to!), but I figured it wasn't worth it in the dark. I still feel like we passed near hallowed ground anyway, just seeing the Holden of Bathurst dealership! You guys have some really great, twisty roads there but boy does it suck being in that HiAce van! Would be way more fun in a Clubsport!
