Australian V8 SC Car of the Future unveiled

I can't tell if this a new paint scheme for the next season or if this is actually Holden's future car, but the media is reporting this as their Car of the Future.

First word was that the teams wouldn't be using a AMG sourced engine but this article suggest that they will. I wonder if the Holden and Ford teams will switch to a production based engine.

I wouldn't expect them to. AMG just had to format their previous race engine to comply with the rules. The biggest reason I posted this for a news article was to ask, is this the shape of next year's NASCAR SS sedan? Someone can photoshop their favorite Chevy front end on it & imagine the street car.

This is just a VE COTF for next season and is being shown as a preview

Livery is not HRT's 2013 livery it's a special one off

VF will not be released till most likely med next season or even around Bathurst time

merc will be using their own engine, just as nissan is using their own too. dunno if Holden and Ford would change to production style engines as the 5.0 litre capacity remains. Did I read somewhere that Nascar will be using fuel injection? if so holden and ford would probably benefit from staying with the 5.0 motorsport engines

Correct about the livery being a one off most likely. Yes this is just a VE paneled COTF spec machine. It has been announced that All Holden teams will run VF panels from the first round next year due to the fact that the car will essentially have been shown in NASCAR guise. Parity tersting for the FG Falcon,VF Holden and the Nissan Altima will take place at Sale in Victoria using the RAAF Base airstrip I think in late October or November.

The reason why we are seeing VE COTF is mainly so they can shakedown their rigs and get all the bugs out of them as the switch to VF will be just a matter of changing front and rear panels and fascias. As SBR will be running FG's until the engine and AMG bodywork is ready to fit. as all other componentry is identical.

As I understand it Tripple Eight race enginerring and HRT pushed hard to get the VF to debut in March. Possibly because they didn't want to have to do VE for just a couple of rounds before switching to VF, every little thing adds to dollars that can be saved and spent in other areas like getting Garth Tander a bigger mirror for those pearly whites of his.
The Mercedes will undergo parity testing in January for its aero package as the engine will be simpler to test.
