I'm sure however the interior will be boring black

Well, I don't know which color Holden will offer for the Commodore, but Opel already showed black, brown and white (see video below) interior colors.

Brown may not get a guernsey....but it's good there may be a white/beige.

You need to compare them using the same measuring system.

The current Commodore wagon is around 510 litres, off the top of my head, up to the luggage cover/window level - this is how they measure cars in Europe: with the seat backrests up. The new Commodore will be around 540 if I remember correctly. That 895 for VF is to the roof and it's a "slightly" inflated SAE figure.

With the seats down they measure it from floor to roof, so yes the VF is larger, and the good old VT was king.

So until you actually compare them side by side f/knows really.

    Brown? Cosmic grey.

That's the price for being 'stylish'. The old Vectra C was 1,850 liters and even the hatchback version (Signum) was 1,410 liters.

I didn't realise than new Insignia still won't be as big as Vectra-C - if only we could keep our family Vectra-C estate going - but it's got the Fiat diesel so costing big time now.

It will never truly be a commodore. It will be a sales flop and by looking at the increased sales of the VF recently the old girl will do much better then this POS.

The figure came from Holden PR so I assume it is 'our' way especially seeing it is 1640 - a Mondeo has roughly 1680litres in the UK specs when "loaded to the roof" so I expect this is too. For comparison my Falcon has 1254 with rear seat up and 2584 litre with them down (I lose a little from these figures as I have LPG).

This comparison on size is an inevitable downside of calling it a Commodore, that only gives negatives whether it's among enthusiasts or potential buyers - if they called it Insignia it would simply be judged as it is, could even be successful, but calling it Commodore is on a hiding to nothing.

One of the big reasons why I think they should have retired the Commodore name and let it be judged on it's own merits rather then piggy back on an existing name where comparisons are going to made specially about the fact it's smaller and can no longer sit 5 adults in comfort.

I suspect you are right but who knows these days. There are plenty of immigrants now buying cars to whom Commodore is just another name. I think they should have come up with a new name or even just called them by their level identifier Ie Holden Calais etc.

Does the 'Holden-isation' of it have to be so bloody half-arsed though? It looks like all they have bothered to do is swap the lightening bolt for a lion, ferchristsakes.
