Yes, the world has come to an end, for Holden fans at least. Though sales deserted the brand when they deserted local manufacturing, there was quite an array of reasons why no one bought the Lion and Stone. So baby where did our love go? And where are your dollars going?

Personally, I am looking to reduce repayments so am looking for something around the 30K sticker. My answer would be the Kia Cerato GT hatch, but you can get a low km RSV wagon for that money.

Where to next, for your hard earned?

I drove this ex Triple 8 hack which was Shane VGs daily. Sounds and goes pretty hard! The dealer here said they couldn't get enough of Traxs when the bargain hunters started streaming through the door.

not Aus myself but USED looks like a good option for now and longer out it is the same question around the globe as sedans get replaced with pod like SUV - appliances
there are some "interesting" EV's on the horizon but for "dino" not a lot

I’d probably look at a Hyundai hybrid/ EV and keep the Redline for weekends.

Our current Santa Fe has been great. No problems at all so I would have confidence in getting another Hyundai.

For me, if I couldn't buy a domestic make any longer I'd turn towards Europe.

Be prepared for the price increases now that the Aud to USD is 0.58! I won't be buying another new car. I'll look at auctions when i need to.

Re: Which Horse Are You Going To Back

I've only ever brought 1 new car. It was when Holden first introduced employee pricing for dealership employees, back in 2008 after the GFC hit. They had a special deal on 60th Anniversary Commodore. With the LPG rebate we could buy one for $24,500 drive away (which a lot of us did). I sold it the following year with low mileage for a small profit

The low mileage ex-GM company fleet cars are usually the best deal. Buy something that they've got a boatload of at an a very good price. The best deal in the last couple of years were Astra RS-V's, which at the time were selling with 5,000kms for less than half RRP.

What are your thoughts on the support contract offered by holden? Is 5 years par for the course? I'm thinking about a RSV wagon. (ex holden)

Re: Which Horse Are You Going To Back

Probably a RAM thats being converted to RHD at the old Holden HSV plant at least it's employing local Aussies 24 hours a day, or an Aussie designed Ranger the Australia-designed model that is available in more than 160 markets globally best selling UTE in Europe.

    February Aussie sales

Aussie RHD Ram 220 sales up +32% on the up.

Holden Commodore (Insignia Opel junk) 132 sales killed off a brand, on the way out.

Re: Which Horse Are You Going To Back

March sales will be decent. We're running at roughly double our regular sales. Corona has slowed us down a little, but it hasn't stopped completely (not yet anyway). Astra, Trax and Colorado are selling well, Equinox and Acadia are still slow.

The 5 years mentioned in the media is only the dealer agreement between GM and the dealers. It's pretty standard to only run for 5 years and then be extended, nothing new there. It's like a certain automotive writer has his own agenda sometimes.......

I agree with about the 5 year thing

Its a 5 year warrantee what else do people expect?

Parts will be plentiful as most of the vehicles continue to be sold elsewhere anyway

Re: Which Horse Are You Going To Back

I'll be keeping the VE of course, been looking at a VF wagon (SV6/SS or a Clubbie if I can stretch it) to be my daily as I miss having a wagon.

Used would be Holden all the way.
Brand new.... Isuzu if they do a new MU-X, otherwise Kia Sorento for the future kiddie hauler. (or a Subaru Levorg if they get rid of that stupid CVT box!)

If money is no object then a RAM Laramie 1500 diesel in black or a Dodge Charger R/T if they ever came over here.
