Holden Enthusiasts: ‘Sad end to a once great brand’

Have to say I'm pretty sad to see Holden go also - I have admired their cars from afar and I'm still looking around for a deal on a low mileage Pontiac G8 GT.

Holden enthusiasts have shared memories of their favourite models as GM announced the iconic brand would be no more by 2021. From the Torana, Kingswood and Monaro through to the Commodore and Astra, generations of Australians have owned — and loved — their Holden.

RIP Holden, gone way too soon. Easy to say they made some of the best cars the rest of the world never got the chance to experience.

I always wanted the G8 GT. Pretty inexpensive used now but I'm looking for a low mile GT in black for a good price.

Exporting from Australia and switching the wheel around was never cost efficient sadly.

It cost no more to build than RHD because it was designed both ways from the start.

Something GMNA couldnt get their head around......or so their trader on Wall St told them.

Sad to me too. I always liked the G8 and SS, but to me, GM packaged them wrong (US). More as boy-toy racers than what they should have been, a Chevy Caprice and/or Buick Park Ave with the long wheelbase cop version that did come here for a little while. I almost bought one too, but drove it back to back against the 300/Charger and the SS was way to racy and stiff riding. Bought the FCA and will again.

I've said it before, GM is dead car company walking.

I loved Holden's products, and I bought one of each (available in US). All three were great cars that GM tried their hardest to not sell.
