Well, lookie here, another big New York auto show debutante has been leaked ahead of the show, and this time itís the Subaru WRX concept. The images appear to have originated on the French site Blog Automobile, and show the WRX concept completely uncovered and in full blue glory.

Just as we suspected, the next WRXóshoul dit stay true to this concept versionómakes a significant break visually from the Impreza, a model itís previously been closely based upon. The concept features bodywork that shares nothing with Subaruís compact car, and features a low, coupe-like roofline, sleek headlights, C-shaped taillights, and a low-set grille. Those beastly fender bulges arenít far from whatís offered on todayís wide-body WRX, and theyíre nicely integrated on the WRX conceptís four-door form.

Didn't Suburu and GM have a engineering tie up at one time? I never understood why GM did not sell a WRX clone as a Pontiac.

Its because they sold it as a Saab. I know, it was odd. But with Pontiac's tie up with Toyota for the Vibe, there was no room for it. Plus I think they wanted to give Saab a hatchback since part of their heritage was with hatchbacks.

Not bad. Kinda' Jaguar-ish up front (or is it more correct to say Jaguar's are Subaru-ish?)

Very promising. However we need to see the actual car and Subaru needs to build this concept.

Except for the too busy air diffuser in the lower rear fascia I like it.

God that front looks like a Chevrolet Sonic. Or the Tru 140s, where it strikes more than just a passing semblance.

The front end is reminiscent of Jaguar, Aston, Hyundai, Ford, Volvo, BMW, etc. - which all took the protruding grill/snout and setback hood-line from the Quattroporte (which was the modern interpretation of that look).

More and more vehicles are getting this same basic look.

I've always respected the WRX for it's capabilities, but never cared for it's looks. However, this new one is a looker!

Same here. This is the first time in my life I've been impressed by a design by Subaru. The front vent on the hood is a tad large. I'd like to see the real pics and the wagon version.
