    NAIAS: 2014 Lexus IS

2014 Lexus IS Looks to the Future
    Carstyleblog
    Jan 15, 2012

Lexus has officially unveiled the 2014 IS compact sport sedan. The 2014 IS will be offered in two versions: a standard model (shown here) and an F-sport model with a more agressive front fascia. The exterior design of the car takes from the LF-CC concept car, and retains the concept’s radical interpretation of the Lexus spindle grill. The interior takes inspiration from Lexus’ LFA supercar, right down to the F-sport model’s gauges which include a moving mechanical ring around an electronic LCD gauge. According to Lexus, performance was a big focus during the car’s development. We await to see how that focus will translate onto the road once the test drives roll in.

It looks slightly better in gray.

    Still awful.

I actually had high hopes that they could pull off their new design themes on a smaller car, however I think the previous model looks better on the exterior. I do like the interior however, it looks really nice.

The standard grille looks much better to me than the F Sport's mesh, as do other colors like the grey and some sites have live shots of a red hybrid at the show. Sides still don't look different enough for me.

If you've just traveled across the cosmos, are preparing to hunt Arnold Schwarzeneggar through the jungle, but really want a 3 Series type car to drive to the shore on the weekends... The Lexus IS is your car...

Better than F-sport version but still not attractive or classy. It just does not look like a sport luxury car. The winglet mirrors are too prominent.

It's funny when you look at the GM's new crop of vehicles, then check out this Lexus. What a let down, it's completely depressing. It's passion vs blah.

Not totally into this. A lot of Mazda influences.
I am editing this post because, as a gamer I see alot of the "Award Tuner" in this design. Just because many of us used to game, does not mean we want our cars as adults to look like this.

That is just unattractive. Probably wouldn't be too bad if it weren't for 'dem headlights.

    Re: NAIAS: 2014 Lexus IS

My problem is that Lexus doesn't know how to make proper sports cars. The first generation IS got it closer to right now its just completely out of touch. The styling works but the driving dynamics will be crappy.

The headlights are a classic example of what I define as "trying too hard." Much like Infiniti's stupid greenhouse kink in the JX crossover.
