    Geneva 2013: 2014 Next Gen Suzuki SX4

Suzuki Unveils New SX4 Compact Crossover, Sales Begin this Fall
    MARCH 05, 2013
    Carscoops

The production version of the S-Cross concept, which was displayed by Suzuki at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, was unveiled today in Geneva in the form of the new SX4 compact crossover.

Although the Japanese company initially intended it to be a direct replacement to the original SX4, its designers and engineers decided to “think bigger” in order to meet customers’ demands and so moved up from the B- to the C-segment.

Measuring 4,300 mm long, 1,765 mm wide and 1,575 mm high, the new SX4 is noticeably larger on all dimensions than its forebear (4,135/1,755/1,565 mm respectively) and rides on a 10 mm longer wheelbase (2,600 vs 2,500 mm).

This enables it to offer more interior space and fix one of the main disadvantages of the first SX4: the diminutive luggage space. In its new iteration, Suzuki’s small crossover offers a 430 lt boot that clearly trumps its predecessor’s 270 lt.

Why this car, from a company you can't buy cars from in the US is headline news in this website is beyond me.

it is IMHO much better looking then the old one but that is not hard but I wonder if "up sizing" when everybody else is racing to bring out smaller CUVs is a wise move

Better looking is in the eye of the looker. I liked the current car (and own one). It had incredible room inside with the big egg shape and was unique in the market, especially when it debuted in 2007. Despite the articles claims, the current car could handle luggage for 2 for a week in the hatch area and under the cargo cover. It is adequate, if not expansive. It also gets good mileage for a very capable AWD system - 27.2 mpg overall average on our car in 63K total miles driven through many a snowy winter.

Too bad Suzuki has left the US market as this model pus the Swift under it and Kizashi above it would have given them a nice model mix of cars. Add in a CUV replacement and they may have made it in the US if sourcing could have been arranged from somewhere in North America or less pricey to import from than Japan.
    Current Driveway Fleet:
    2017 Chevrolet Trax Premier
    2016 Malibu Hybrid
    2013 Sonic LTZ HB
2003 Porsche Boxster S (sunny days and track events)
April 2008 to August 2017 - 2008 Colorado CrewCab Z71 RWD. 81K miles and 21.2 mpg with a great truck
May 2014 to June 2016 - Cruze Diesel - 36.8 mpg over 33K miles with best tank of 50.2 mpg
April 2012 to May 2014 - Chevy Volt - 3 tanks of gas in 12.2K miles.

I liked the previous gen version (Current U.S. version) better, it looked a bit more 'upright' and had a more ultra-mini SUV look...while this one looks like a generic compact wagon.

    The interior is nice though.

Very Nice! Called it the SX4 back when I saw the concept. One generation to late to splash some unique looks for what could of went to the NA market. I think this could have gotten more attention in the US even over the Kazashi - nothing like it. Looks very Euro - could of did well against the Matrix or Mazda 3

Looks like Suzuki dumped out of the US a bit too soon...this would've been good competition for the Mazda CX-5, perhaps.

Nice package but the design lost some charm of the old SX4.

Gee, they made it more ordinary looking.

Its predecessor, at least, was distinctive, fairly butch for a CUV. No longer.
