    Beijing 2014: Nissan Lannia Concept

Nissan Lannia concept debuts on the Beijing Auto Show
    BY JOEY WANG
    APRIL 21, 2014
    Car News China

The Nissan Lannia concept debuted on the Beijing Auto Show. The sharp looking vehicle previews a future China-only sedan aimed at young and sporty families. The Nissan Lannia was designed by Nissan Design China, based in Beijing and headed by a Japanese man called Taji Toyota.

Beautiful aggressive stance, leaning forward, emphasizing power coming from the rear, accentuated by the large wheel arches at the back. Shark-fin C-pillar a sinister touch.

The production version of the Lannia, expected in 2016, will be based on the new Nissan MFA platform which will also underpin the upcoming Infiniti Q30 SUV. The Q30 will be powered by 1.6 and 2.0 gasoline engines. No word on what powers the Lammia, but similar engines would make sense.

Now why do I keep hearing the Chinese don't want designs that make them stand out. While not the prettiest vehicle, it certainly stands out to my eyes. Why does Nissan think this will fly in China while Cadillac is toning down their designs for China?

I tend to like this but the front does look like it is trying to pucker up or something.

It is a concept and it is probaly going to get as much exposure from Beijing as it would anywhere else these days. It looks quite fine as a concept to me. I could easily imagine the badge on the front as having been a Volvo one!
