VW: Emissions 'irregularities' extend to gasoline engines

    LeftLaneNews

Volkswagen has again expanded the scope of its emissions scandal, finding 'irregularities' with additional diesel and gasoline engines.

The company issued a statement promising to remain transparent as it continues its internal investigations, just days after clashing with the Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board over allegations that its V6 TDI engines are outfitted with emissions 'defeat' software.

Do we know yet whether the cheat devices were installed on VW's electric vehicles?

This SO much larger than the GM ignition switch news it isn't even funny. Anyone come to VWs defense who dogged GM needs to just end themselves.

Still a far lesser sin than 'Toyota'.

Which is about a hell of a lot more than a still unchecked massive and seriously bad SUA problem and you bet, also includes some for MPG, and EM.

Plus oodles and oodles of other direct and or indirect Safety fail.

Btw..... I'd also keep in mind just exactly what motivated GM to become basically the world leader in practical terms at preventing SUA.

They all got patches of "not good" in their histories - even just over the last thirty / forty years or so .

Also contrary to the massive embarrassments released of late - jointly by some @ 'Tech and Harvard , sensible analysis suggests a far far greater loss of human life versus via VAG's inexcusable EM fails.

Agree - many distorted and or put the GM story all out of proportion and with none of the desperately needed context but the answer to that does not lie in doing the same sort of thing to 'VAG'.

And yes, I can also understand the temptation to do so ..... and quite frankly the underlying frustration. After all, until this happened, 'VAG' appeared to be the one possibly successful hope against Toyota .

With HK in second position....... and GM and Ford nowhere to be found.
