Rumor: VW to offload Bugatti to Rimac

    https://www.motor1.com/news/444410/v...o-rimac-rumor/

Kind of surprising news also another interesting tidbit in the article:

But wait, there’s more. Bugatti is apparently not the only brand under the VW Group’s huge umbrella that could be sold. The report goes on to say Lamborghini, SEAT, Italdesign, and Ducati are all “under investigation.” It is believed VW has already had negotiations with potential investors, but the coronavirus pandemic slowed things down.
I wouldn't mind seeing Italdesign in another companies hand. It always felt wrong to me that they were owned by VW.

A Chinese company should buy it, preferably one state owned so that the technology can be spread with little restrictions

Doesn't surprise me, I thought with the emissions scandal they'd be unloading these non-German brands a lot sooner.

A Chinese made cheap w16 would be a disaster, plus, they would just put it in their tanks... not good for the next conflict...

The Ducati sale has been a rumor for a while now I think.

not good for whom????? I do not believe the W12 in made-in-germany form is reliable let alone a "cost down" made-in-China version

VW Group's W12 engine production was transferred to Bentley in Crewe, England as they're the main user of the engine.
